I'm bipolar and I've just had a daughter. She needs a book to explain her daddy.

I'm not interested in pitching this to a publisher, the market is small and select. I'm not interested in profits. All I really want is a printed hardcover for myself and anyone else who wants one. I'd offer the book for free, if printing costs weren't a thing, and you could trust a four year old with your ebook.

I have an artist, Bia Donato who can draw a damn good sloth. (The book will have a family of sloths, because I said so.) I've paid her for the book cover, as a promotional to post on a crowdfunding website. I'm hoping to get the money to contract her for the rest of the book.

Has anyone used crowdfunding for a personal book? There are successes on indiegogo, but I'm not sure how many failures there are. Kickstarter is for products, not projects, so it's out. I'm just wondering if that's the best site to use right now.
