The land of Dracula. For real.
I was debating whether to post this or not, but as in any other situation that calls for presenting yourself, I thought it would be nice to say a word or two (possibly more).
:hi: My name is Alexandra-Maria, I am an artist from Romania and I aspire to become a published writer, and one day, I hope I can own a publishing house. I loved words, literature and art since I can remember. After graduating high school I decided to obtain a degree in Painting and write on the side (didn't quite go as I planned, but well... life). At the moment I am working on several writing projects, while also working as a Graphic designer, on my art and studying English and Romanian Literature. One of my objectives is to be able to write books in English. At the moment, I write both in English and in my native language, although I'm far from good in expressing myself the way I desire in English, so I'm a bit reluctant in sharing whatever I wrote in English. I write poetry, mostly symbolic and surreal; and prose, in different genres. In the future, I want to write some essays, in subjects such as literature, art and philosophy. I love learning new things. Sometimes I think I should have made a career from being a student :)). I am also super shy, not that it matters in an online community, but like in real life, it might be interpreted wrong.
Hopefully, we'll get to change knowledge for knowledge and have a good time together. I'm also opened to be part of a writing club and a beta reader (I found this website while researching beta readers), although I have never tried it before. I also like giving constructive criticism truthfully, because what else can be more helpful than this for those who need it? I know I need it. :)
So yeah, glad to be here around people with a passion for writing. It's a great place to be. :e2woo:

Welcome, and good luck with your writing! I have so much admiration for people who speak another language as their first language and I still so eloquent with English. I'm sure you'll get lots of help here once you start sharing, but it sounds like you have a good grass but the language already. :)

Thank you.
I've started learning English since I was 4 but I still have a lot to learn. Every language is complex and sometimes, if you don't practice it everyday, some things you learn fade away in time. And although I use English daily, when it comes to writing a story it's like a different world. Words take a whole new meaning and so does the expression, and the mind can also mess with it from time to time. What sounds good in one language, it can sound bad in the other, depending on the context. But as the say goes, practice makes perfect. :D
