I am told they sell books hither and yon. For one of my e-books my cut from this outfit was 27 cents.
Not any more. For two bits I'd rather drive a truck.
I read their website and it says that they distribute ebooks for publishers, including big 5 publishers. There is no webvidence of them doing anything improper.
I don't trust anybody's website any more than goods advertised on TV. "Flip real estate and get rich," "these pills will cure you of anything, anytime."
I never said Vearsa has/does anything wrong. I was just looking for a little extra insight. To sell a $5 book and have 27 cents left for the author does not appear to me to be a very good deal.
And the reply is, if they did anything wrong nobody with an internet connection knows about it. They are covered as a legit business by Publishers Weekly and openly used by legit self-publishing platforms like BookBaby.
I suggest that you ask your publisher if they use Vearsa and if so under what terms.
Well that piece of information helps us help you work out what the problem is.
What self-publishing platforms do you use? Because many of them use Vearsa (I already gave the example of BookBaby). If you can't find it on their website, email their help staff and ask.
Then when you ask yourself for that information, you'll have the answer.
Or you could just link to your book and someone here will probs figure it out for you.
Just trying to parse this thread to ascertain the issue here.
1) Your book is on Vearsa.
2) You received a tiny royalty from them.
2) You didn't put your book on Vearsa and don't know what it is.
3) You're self-published.
So, is your question (1) why you're on Vearsa in the first place, and/or (2) how you get off Vearsa? If that's the case, have you tried contacting Vearsa directly?
I also contacted The Pope and The Donald but they are not forthcoming. Remind me not to ask for any help on this forum ever again, it obviously prods folks' backsides.
We gave you the answer (vearsa is legit) and two completely viable solutions to your problem. If you tell us who you self-publish with or your ISBN we could even get you the specifics. The only one who seems to be upset is you and I genuinely do not know why. You may not like the facts, but they is what they is.
