Do we need Public Liability Insurance for school visits?

G'day!

I've organised myself to do a Meet the Author visit at a few local primary schools. Must I have Public Liability Insurance? I hate the idea of paying for a year's worth of insurance for a one-week gig.

I suspect any reply knowledgeable people might make could be construed as legal advice, which AW does not permit.

That said, I don't know any authors who've taken out insurance for such things. Although not every author I know informs me of their insurance purchases. Go figure, huh?

I am sure the schools will have such a Policy, but what on earth are you intending to do at these meetings that you think might warrant your having such a Policy?

Check with an Insurance Advisor if it worries you.
