Okay, we all seem to have made a massive leap over the point. For me it's a numbers thing. If you look at my book shelves, you will probably find that there's maybe 10% more male writers than female writers. That just means that there are more books by male authors, nothing more, nothing less. It certainly not a bad thing to have books by more male authors, but that doesn't change that fact that there are more books on the book shelf by male authors. It a fact, not an insult. It doesn't mean they're better, it just means they're there.
The point was whether or not it's okay to dictate someone's preference through insult due to the fact that we are a reactive society. People would rather react than think critically about things. I have seen it again and again, and I simply don't find it amusing. Because once people react, usually with anger, then they assume, then they attack, and You're the bad guy because you're "not right". And it would seem that people these dats are getting outraged over the most ridiculous things. Personally I'd rather they think rather than react. Seeing as many of the things they're reacting to are trivial compared to the true troubles of the world.
I don't know how we got off on gender, seeing as it's irrelevant, and the fact that there are simply more male authors on my shelf than female doesn't really matter. That wasn't the point. Yes, it's true? Is it wrong or bad? I don't know. Maybe...But it seems to be that you've mistaken my point. It wasn't about gender. It was about needless outrage.
