Don't know if I'm posting this in the right place, but years ago I read a disturbing short story for English about a mysterious dark factory, and the sinister toys and objects created within. As I recall there was no dialogue, it was written from the perspective of the narrator observing and describing the building and remembering the horrific products made within, alternating between them and floors of the factory, each getting darker the further down it went into the building's many lower levels....

And that's all I can remember. I thought it was called "The Grey Factory" or something like that, but Internet searches come up with nothing useful. Does this story sound familiar to anyone?

By Thomas Ligotti maybe? He has a similar story- I think it's "Our Temporary Supervisor", it's in his collection Teatro Grottesco. It doesn't sound like an exact match though.
