Not without looking it up, which is cheating. Can you give hints?

Well, since it's female, that rules me out, even though I'm from Colorado too...

Though I've not published anything yet, let alone won any awards for not publishing (though suspect if I were to publish at this point, people would tell me to just stay unpublished...)

LOL - sorry, thread starter here, wishing I had an intelligent guess, but my mind is in shut down mode...and don't stop playing, I'm always up for learning about more writers! :)

May I suggest that, like in the other Jeopardy! on TV, there be a time limit and if nobody rings in, we go to another question?

Maryn, who watches it most evenings

Agreed - and since the last question was posted on 7/20 - time for a new question:

The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of books about a fantasy land, by noted author C.S. Lewis. What do the initials C and S stand for?

*Bonus points if you can name all 7 of the chronicles in the "Narnia" series! :)

...this science fiction writer, who resides in Colorado, has won more major awards than anyone else in the field to date, with eleven Hugos and seven Nebula awards plus multiple nominations.

Oh and the answer here (after a Google search) proved to be Connie Willis - http://www.westword.com/news/connie...thor-hangs-out-at-a-greeley-starbucks-5891993

Clive Staples Lewis, and the order is:

The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Horse and His Boy
The Magicians Nephew
The Last Battle

This country's authors have won more Nobel prizes for literature than any other country (including the U.S.A.):

In the interests of moving on, new question:

These are the first two names of author A.A. Milne...

I came up with 42 novels.

The name of the young boy who is the most famous Swedish children's author's second most famous character (hint: the most famous character is a red haired girl with pigtails).

Shoot, everybody knows Pippi but I, for one, have no clue about any other characters from the same author. Can I get partial credit for running home from swim class on a winter Saturday morning of my childhood, my braids freezing sticking out, and staying outside until my dad got back from some errand so he could see me being Pippi?

Valliant attempts everyone, but the answer is Emil, a mischievous little boy who locks himself in the woodshed every time he thinks he deserves punishment.
Anyone else want to ask a question to restart this thread?

Sorry all, this thread completely dropped off my radar. (Then again, so has AW since the server migration kinda took it off my morning hit list for a week or so there)

But, I am hopefully back to checking in more regularly, so:

thread reboot

This character first appeared in “The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter”, an 1893 story in London’s Strand Magazine
(from this last week Jeopardy, which is what reminded me)

Answer:

?????

I'd be cheating, since I happened to see that Jeopardy show. (And every other, pretty much.)

But come on, non-cheaters, take a guess!

That's closer than I came when I saw the Jeopardy show. Duh... Usually I do okay in the humanities questions. It's geography and STEM stuff that kills me.

I've been trying to come up with a new question so Jason doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting. It's hard!

Ok, new question:

What is George Orwell's real name? (Hint: That's just a pen name :) )
