I can't ever quite convince myself of this.
There's that thing in the back of my head that says:
Oh No! The light! The light! Don't go!

*sigh*

And yet it is what it is.

I do hope this solstice finds you well.
That you might celebrate the moment.
Give pause,
and perhaps...
be happy in the now.

Happy solstice to you. :D

On the winter solstice I take solace in the fact days will be getting longer. But why bring myself down on the summer solstice. So I keep happy knowing there are many months of sun still to come. :hooray:

It's so hard to believe the days are now going to get shorter. Just a few weeks ago, we had frost at night. Well, okay, about six weeks ago, but still....it's hard for me to wrap my brain around how this is the summer solstice.

And yet it is.

I hope everybody enjoys this magical day. To celebrate, I made a video.

Well, ok, not really. I just happened to do a video and it was finished today. But still...The Earth is an amazing, living organism.

Happy solstice everyone. There's still daylight until after 11pm around here. Might have a BBQ this weekend if the weather holds good.

Special wishes to anyone doing Ramadan in the more northerly latitudes, as it's coinciding with the solstice this year. Apparently there are around 1000 Muslims in Reykjavik, where they can only get to eat for 2 hours in the middle of the night!

I might have guessed it was summer solstice here even if I hadn't known. Last night I closed the blinds because too much light was reflecting off the TV--after 9:00 p.m. Then this morning I had to close the bedroom curtains because the bedroom was way too light for sleep, at about 4:30 a.m.

The baby bat
Cried out in fright,
"Turn on the dark!
I'm afraid of the light!"

Turns out today is also World Selfie Day.

*takes a moment to reflect (back at myself, apparently) on the sad state of humanity*

Back at the University... I found out that I could take a three-hour, fully-accredited class entitled: How to take a selfie.
Wish I was kidding, but it's true. For me, of course, it was as if DeLillo's White Noise was coming to life in front of me.
