My WIP has two POV characters. I recently had the revelation that I've been leading with the wrong one. So now I'm re-working the story to open with what had previously been my secondary POV character.
Currently, the introductory chapter for this POV character is a short chapter with a verse-like structure, in that each paragraph ends with the same sentence. It's still draft and needs to be cleaned up, but I really like this chapter.
I'm wondering, though, if this would be a turn off as a first chapter in a novel. Or, alternatively, does it set an incorrect expectation that the whole book would be in verse?
Thoughts?
