I think Damoclian has started one (see his post above).

I have to make two quick additions to my June goals because FINALLY I have signed the contract for my third book with my publisher. Because of this, I'm going to fall short on some of my other goals (as if I wasn't already), but hey - life is what happens when you're making other plans.

1. Incorporate beta feedback for Book #4 as needed - 3 out of 3 DONE
2. Explore NYC with at least two more jaunts to places I've never been - not happening
3. Read five books - 4 of 5
4. Finish reading "My Writing Day" essays from The Guardian series - DONE
5. Get at least 10k words written on rough draft of Book #5 - currently 2,470
6. Decide whether to participate in July Camp NaNo -
still on the fence
7. Start planning my social media push for the release of Book #1 in August -
in progress
8. Finish last pass over final draft of Book #3 before forwarding to publisher - Chapter 10 of 21
9. Fill out various publisher forms for Book #3 - haven't started

Final June Update:

1. Write 500 words a day - Pretty sure I failed that one. Never mind...
2. Outline my fantasy novel - Mostly complete - Should be done by the end of next month once I have a better idea who my characters are.
3. Read 3 books - complete
4. Write 2 Blog Posts - Managed one.

I let the month get away from me.

Well, it was a win-some/lose-some month for me (sounds like a lot of others had the same kind of month). I got the last-minute final pass on Book #3 done, and the m/s is off to my publisher. There's a section I culled from the first chapter of the book some time ago, because it felt like too much review of "the story so far," but I'm going to run it past my editor and see what she thinks before we set that opening in stone. It's the problem with writing a series - how much do you actually need to recap before diving into the next leg of the story?

I finished the book on atomic disasters (quite good) and then read Tina Fey's BOSSYPANTS into the bargain, so that's one goal I actually exceeded. I fully intended to do Camp and may yet sidle in there, but Goal #9 takes precedence for the next few days. Since that entails writing the back cover blurb (which will be used for the press release when the acquisition is announced), I really need to focus on that right now.

I'm off to start the July thread. See you there!

1. Incorporate beta feedback for Book #4 as needed - 3 out of 3 DONE
2. Explore NYC with at least two more jaunts to places I've never been - not happening
3. Read five books - 6 of 5 DONE
4. Finish reading "My Writing Day" essays from The Guardian series - DONE
5. Get at least 10k words written on rough draft of Book #5 - currently 2,470
6. Decide whether to participate in July Camp NaNo -
looks like "no" LOL
7. Start planning my social media push for the release of Book #1 in August -
in progress
8. Finish last pass over final draft of Book #3 before forwarding to publisher - DONE
9. Fill out various publisher forms for Book #3 - .5 done

I'm sorry to see a lot of people struggled a bit with their goals this month. But at the same time, thank you for not making me the only one! :)

Final June Progress:

1. One blog post per week (4 total)
4 total. Check! (All downhill from here though . . .)
2. Write 17K words on my current WIP (this is a weird number, but many maths went into it)
Final count: 14,000-ish (and a painful decision to set this one aside for a while, half done, until I can figure out a few major problems)
3. Finish reading Self-Editing for Fiction Writers
Nope!
4. Start reading Characters, Emotion & Viewpoint by Nancy Kress once I finish #3
Double Nope

On the plus side, in preparation for Camp, I've spent the day finishing an outline to a different project I thought up a while ago, which should be pretty straightforward and simple. For realz, this time. Like, it's contemporary romance set in Austin, where I used to live. There are very few unknowns that could trip me up. Fingers crossed!

Bleh. Yeah, I did not do a good job on the goals I set this month.

[ ] Clean my office.
[ ] Make some webpage updates.
[ ] Finish short story.
[x] Pick July Camp NaNo Project.

Constant Goals:
[--] Changing sleep cycle.
I think I'm actually halfway there on this one. While I can sleep in a little when I choose, my wake-up time is pretty stable. Real test will be the vacation day tomorrow, but I think I just need to maintain this and focus on the night time now.
[26] Write 1K words a day (for 52 weeks).

So, yeah. This month was mostly treading water on the long term goals, I think :tongue
