I've been trying to share as many of the posts in the Blog thread on Twitter as I can. I figure we're all in this together, so every little bit of promotion helps, right?

I've noticed that several people who use Wordpress.com (where you blog lives at coolblogname.wordpress.com) don't have their Twitter handle set up in the sharing links. The sharing links are the boxes that appear at the bottom of your post. A reader can click any of them and share your post to that social media platform. Clicking the Twitter button creates a tweet of the format Blog Post Title http://coolblogname.wordpress.com/blog-post-url via @Twitterhandle. if you don't have your twitter handle set up properly, the tweet defaults to "via @wordpress.com." That's not going to help you get Twitter followers. Here's how you fix that.

In your blog dashboard, usually at something like https://wordpress.com/stats/day/coolblogname.wordpress.com (wherever you go to create a post), you should see a menu on the left sidebar, with sections like Publish, Personalize, and Configure. In the Configure section, there should be a link for Sharing. Click that. That will load two tabs on the right side. One is labelled Connections. That's where you can set up auto-publishing to Twitter, Facebook Google+ and any other social media accounts you have. The next tab is labelled Sharing Buttons. Click that. Scroll down to Options. You should see a box labelled Twitter username. Enter your Twitter handle there, click save, and you'll be set.

This way when someone shares your post via Twitter, your handle will appear in the tweet, making it easier for people to follow you on Twitter.
