It's time for smoothie season (fresh fruit smoothies that is - I use frozen fruits in the winter time).
Base
1 pineapple, 1 quart blueberries, 1 tray ice cubes
Variations
Add a third fruit between a banana, a mango, a papaya, an orange, or 1 cup watermelon
Yield
Five 8-oz Contigo water bottles (I add water up to 16oz)
Substitutions
For a thicker smoothie, use Greek plain yogurt instead of water
Instead of blueberries, you can also use strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries
Additions
If you like to add some greens, blend the ice with kale, spinach, collard, romaine or Swiss chard first, then add the base fruits to keep it a little tastier or less bland
Chill overnight (I make an entire week and sit the first 2 days in the fridge, and freeze the other 3 - after dinner, I rinse out my used Contigo bottle and that reminds me to add a rotation to the fridge...)
