It's that time of year again where I bump up my post count and get totally blotto on drinking games for the contest. Ukraine play hosts this Saturday. Who's going to pull up a chair and join me for the party? :partyguy:

Lady Bacchus is a huge fan, so we have the semi final on the telly right now.

Bacchus is less of a fan - a lot less - but gets swept along with it...

We're getting the final in the US on Saturday again. Braise the merciful masters, Carson Kressley has NOT been asked to host again this year. Instead, we have the two other judges from RuPaul's Drag Race, Michelle "I'm Not Madonna!" Visage and Ross Matthews. I'll be here, liveposting with everybody else!

And I'm already screaming "NIL POINTS! NIL POINTS, ALREADY, GODDAMMIT!" at Romania. Oy.

I thought that the Romanian song was catchy and fun, and that it fully encapsulates the spirit of Eurovision.

"Is lady Bacchus Romanian?" I hear you say.
"Why yes, yes she is. How funny that you would ask..."

I haven't heard any of the songs so far (not even the UK's entry). I'm not sure if it's better that way or not when going in to watch the live show.

I thought Australia entering last year was just a once-off, but it's great that they're in again. What time will the contest be screened for you, Helix?

This is Australia's third year, which is really stretching the notion of Europe. The final will start at 5am on Sunday. Stupid oblate spheroid world.

It's their third year already?! Wow, I must've totally forgotten about that - I was so sure it was only last year they first entered. I don't envy you that early morning start. :Hug2:

I went in blind last year but I found a compilation video on Eurovision's YouTube channel. Which is why I'm already doling out the nil points.

YOU get nil points! And YOU get nil points! And YOU get nil points! EVERYBODY GETS NIL POINTS!

Is 5am too early to start drinking?

Or do you just carry on from the night before?

Do we ever stop carrying on around here?

I'm probably not watching this year as my mom, my usual partner in crime, is away travelling and it's really not as fun on my lonely own. Didn't watch the semis either.

I think I'll tape it though, and maybe we can watch it when she returns.

And I'll be reading the thread here afterwards too because that's usually gold.

Take a drink whenever the background graphics show fire.

Michelle Visage and Ross Matthews are actually taking a moment to explain the rules.

Yeah, but here in the US, we'd need at least an hour before the show to explain the rules. Youse guys in the UK are old pros and are probably regularly quizzed on the rules in school.
