Sorry, if this is not the right forum.

Is it legal to use a famous person's name in your book title if the title is a true story. For example....

"Having a Drink with George Clooney"

or

"Meeting Courtney Love."

and the book is about other stuff, but you did do what the title says you did and you do tell the story of having a drink with Courtney Love.

I once rode an elevator with Priscilla Presley.

Can I use the title "Riding To the 11th Floor with Priscilla Presley?" or is using their name illegal somehow? I'm thinking if it really happened, it should be fine, but my law degree is not from a reputable school. Thanks in advance.

You're going to have to consult with your publisher or with an attorney.

It's not so much that it's legal or not legal, as it is a question of potential lawsuits, which occur at the whim of the person suing and the attorney(s) representing them.

In some cases, where people have had their performing name or legal name trade marked, there may be additional hoops or issues to deal with.

Ask an attorney or your publisher.
