Time is a
winding sheet,
binding me
body and mind
to the worry,
the hurry,
the scurrying
beasties that
feast on the
least of my
dreams while
lying in wait for
the great ones.

I really liked the assonance running all the way through, great musicality and a pleasure to read aloud. I did find though that the 'Time is a winding sheet' metaphor brought up too many echoes for me from the Silver poets (Wyatt, Sidney, Ralegh) as well as Donne, Marvell and even Peter Gizzi! A powerful metaphor but with too long a history perhaps of literary associations.

Thanks for ripping this one from the beasties - I've been letting them chew alot of my internal scenery lately too! I'll continue to enjoy this one of yours again and again, I'm sure.
