Once again, let's share any public requests for erotica and erotica romance submissions here. Please include the basic call and a link to the publisher's page for each one.

The very last manuscript call in the 2016 thread is open for a couple more weeks. When it has passed, everything that's open will be here.

BTW, you don't have to be an erotica or erotic romance writer to post here. If you happen to come across a call for such manuscripts, we'd sure appreciate knowing about it.

I have submitted a few manuscripts to JMS Books LLC. I like it so far. It's a small publisher, but the owner is very responsive and the contracts have been fair enough. The editing ranges from average to excellent. JMS currently has three open submission calls:

Unusual You (Gay Erotic Romance Shapeshifter Stories)
Deadline: March 31, 2017
Payment: 50% net royalties from all channels, to be paid quarterly
Contract: 2 years exclusive, auto-renews

NOTE: This isn't an anthology; the stories will be released as individual ebooks with unique covers.

Everyone’s read stories about wolf, bear, and cat shifters, but we’re looking for stories about men who shift into something a bit more ... unusual.

Birds, rats, insects, crocodiles, dolphins, turtles -- we want to read about these shifters. Maybe your character changes into a magical creature like a unicorn, dragon, or phoenix. Maybe he’s cursed and shifts into Bigfoot, El Chupacabra, or the Loch Ness Monster. Whatever his ability, he still deserves to find true love with a mate, and that’s the story we’re looking for!

NOTE: While we do take the “usual” were stories, for this call we’re looking for the strange and unusual ones. Male pregnancy (MPreg) is allowed.

STORIES MUST BE:

Stories must be 12,000 words or more
Stories must contain a romance -- any heat level, from sweet to erotic
Romance must be MM or MMM ONLY
Stories must be paranormal but can be any subgenre (contemporary, sci-fi, fantasy, historical, western, etc.)
Stories must have a HEA or HFN ending
Adult stories only (no YA)

All stories submitted must adhere to the general guidelines found on our website. We do not consider multiple or simultaneous submissions. Reprints will be considered only if the author holds exclusive rights to republish.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

Send a blurb and the full manuscript to [email protected] with "Unusual You" and the title of your story in the subject line. Include any author credentials you may have.

We will acknowledge receipt of your submission immediately, and make a decision on your story within 4 business days.

Calling All Heroes (Gay Erotic Romance Stories)
Deadline: January 31, 2017
Payment: 50% net royalties from all channels, to be paid quarterly
Contract: 2 years exclusive, auto-renews

NOTE: This isn't an anthology; the stories will be released as individual ebooks with unique covers.

Whether he’s a Greek god of legend, a caped superhero protecting the weak, or a first responder (fireman, policeman, EMT) protecting his community, or a soldier fighting for his country, or even just the guy next door who does a good turn for a neighbor, who doesn’t love a hero? To be held in those big strong arms, kiss those firm lips, trace a finger along that chiseled jawline?

We’re looking for stories about heroes and the men who love them. Maybe the only person who thinks your character is heroic is the man he comes home to at the end of a long day, or the child whose cat he rescues from a tree. Whatever makes your character heroic, we want to read his tale, and discover how they both find true love and a happy ending.

STORIES MUST BE:

Stories must be 12,000 words or more
Stories must contain a romance -- any heat level, from sweet to erotic
Romance must be MM or MMM ONLY
Stories may be any subgenre (contemporary, historical, paranormal, etc.)

Send a blurb and the full manuscript to [email protected] with "Calling All Heroes" and the title of your story in the subject line. Include any author credentials you may have.

We will acknowledge receipt of your submission immediately, and make a decision on your story within 4 business days.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming Home (Gay Erotic Romance Stories)
Deadline: February 28, 2017
Payment: 50% net royalties from all channels, to be paid quarterly
Contract: 2 years exclusive, auto-renews

NOTE: This isn't an anthology; the stories will be released as individual ebooks with unique covers.

There’s nothing quite like coming home to the people who love you. We’re looking for M/M romance and erotic romance novellas and novels with a homecoming theme. No, not the school dance -- we want stories in which the main character returns home after an absence and finds true love waiting for him.

Maybe he’s like a prodigal son who left under bad terms. Or perhaps he left seeking something just out of reach, only to find what he’s always wanted closer than he thought. Is he coming home after making a name for himself out in the world? Or crawling back in defeat? Maybe tragedy (death of a family member) brings him home but tragedy is turned to joy with the help of a special someone.

Whatever his reasons, he heads home to claim -- or discover -- true love was right in front of him all along. These stories must be about men returning home and falling in love, whether with someone from their pasts or with someone new. Show us who, or what, brings him home again and what kind of welcome he receives.

STORIES MUST BE:

Stories must be 12,000 words or more

Romance must be MM or MMM ONLY

Pen & Kink is doing a series of Theme-connected anthos. The second one, RAVENOUS, is open for submissions until the end of the month (January). Here's a link to the website, and here's the link to their Submissions page.

Details:

Triskaidekaphilia Book #2 — Ravenous!
A vampire romance anthology

Dark. Brooding. Tortured. Sexy.

Vampires are a mystery, morphing through history from maligned villains to sparkling saviors and back again. They can be the ultimate bad boys, the supreme seductresses, or the evil monsters. They fascinate and repel us at the same time. What other creature can steal into your bedroom in the depths of the night to stalk or protect? What other ancient being is so accessible yet so powerful? What other enigma is desired as much as feared?

RAVENOUS will explore the paradox that are vampires. We want your romantic stories where vampire men and women, noble or troubled, are worthy of love and hungry for their happily ever after. We want sexy stories about vampire hunters who track down the beasts and, while neck deep in the war against the undead, find comfort and happiness in each other. We want a far future planet populated by only vampires; we want a Victorian city re-imagined with vampires as a dying breed; we want a current world where vampires and humans live in harmony and peace. We want all of that and more—let your imagination run wild.

All heat levels accepted, although plot is important if you want to survive the slush!

The details:
Stories between 1,000 – 15,000 words long (query for longer)
Reprints accepted but not preferred. When submitting a reprint include information about its original publication in your submission email.
Open to all gender pairings and multiple partners
Simultaneous & multiple submissions = No

Payment: $10 USD and a paperback copy of the anthology in exchange for the non-exclusive right to include the story in both the print and electronic versions of the anthology.
Open submission period: November 1, 2016 – January 31, 2017
Expected publication date: October 13, 2017

To submit: Please submit a .doc or .rtf in something approximating standard manuscript format to [email protected]
About the Anthologist: Ariel Jade is the nom de plume of an established SFF writer. She’s a member of the SFWA and has published several (non-romance) novels and short stories. Starting in early 2017, she’s embarking on a journey into the world of romance, erotica, and everything in between.

Please note: Pen and Kink Publishing and Ariel Jade welcome submissions from writers of all backgrounds (including, but not limited to, race, color, religion, gender/gender expression, age, disability, and national origin), and are always looking for submissions with diverse characters.

*******

I have a story coming out with this micro-publisher, which spun off of World Weaver Press. WWP decided to get back to their core mission of SFF, so Cori Vidae took the romance/erotica wing and opened her own small press, Pen and Kink. They're focused on anthologies right now, and since this is a pretty new venture, discovery is still a bit of a challenge. Their last WWP anthology. THE NAUGHTY LIST, was highlighted by a story from Tiffany Reisz, though, so they're not inexperienced. Another AWer had a story in the first P&K anthology, ROUGH EDGES (if you want to check it for quality).

Cori has been a great communicator. My story didn't require any significant edits (thank you AW!), but she did have one story-related issue. She was entirely professional about working through it with me, and I found her smaller edits on-point. I don't have other experience with outside editing, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Carrying over in part from 2016...

Mofo Pubs http://www.mugwumppress.com/mofo/submissions/

They have two short story anthologies open, closing 3 Feb

Literary Erotica Anthology: Hotel
We are in search of erotic stories centered around the theme of hotel. How you execute this theme is up to you—a multitude of interpretations are possible. Five star resorts, seedy residencies, downtown high rises, hostels, roadside motels, boutique hotels, casinos, bed and breakfasts. Escorts, business travelers, professional gamblers, flight crews, strangers, newly weds, adulterers, old friends, co-workers, touring musicians, longterm lovers.
1,000-5,000 words, although we’ll consider pieces that fall outside those parameters on a case-by-case basis. Multiple and simultaneous submissions ok. No reprints. 1 cent per word.

Literary Erotica Anthology: Sacrilege
For this anthology, we are looking for erotic stories that explore the concept of sacrilege. No other parameters apply other than that every story needs to be literary, erotic, and push the boundaries between the sacred and the profane.
We have a preference for Catholicism—the eroticism and hypocrisy are built right in—but sacrilege involving other branches of Christianity and other major world religions is fair game.
1,000-5,000 words, although we’ll consider pieces that fall outside those parameters on a case-by-case basis. Multiple and simultaneous submissions ok. No reprints. 1 cent per word.

Plus an open call on longer pieces:

Mofo Pubs is currently seeking sexually explicit erotica manuscripts between 12,000 and 80,000 words. We have a strong preference for literary erotica, but are open to reading well-written erotic submissions that fall under the umbrella of other secondary genres.
We are unlikely to accept submissions that are not character-driven. We want vivid, three-dimensional characters. Stories featuring original, compelling premises and plots will be given preference over traditional romance tropes and clichés, although if you can tell a classic story with a unique twist we want to see it. (Porn tropes will be rejected unless they are used in service of the best satire ever.)
All pairings and orientations are welcome. We are also looking for novel spins on faery tales and well-known (public domain) literary characters.
50% of net sales to increase to 65% of net sales once a work’s sales surpass $4,000 USD (net). Seven year exclusive contract for digital and print rights from date of publication.

Loose Id has a call titled Summer Attractions. It reads:
April showers bring May flowers, and spring flings give way to Summer Attractions. Loose Id's looking for short, smoldering stories to help pass those long summer nights.

Your idea, your setting, your story--

Free teaser? Yes. Part of my Loose Id published series? Yes. Follow-up with existing characters? Yes. Something brand new? Yes. Whatever your question, the answer is almost certainly yes!

Just feature a "summer attraction" - State Fair, amusement park, 4th of July community picnic, beach, summer stock theatre...whatever tickles your (and your characters') fancy.

Re-releases: No.
Length: 3500 - 25,000 words preferred; longer acceptable if completed by deadline
Genre: anything we publish
Deadline: May 31, 2017

Submit: cover letter, synopsis and first 15 pages to [email protected] with subject line "Summer Attractions."
As with any call for manuscripts, it's up to the author to check out the publisher and determine for herself or himself if it's a good choice and a good fit.

Maryn, wishing she didn't need to say that

Oh, my, is it almost the holiday season already? (Must be--my forecast for Sunday includes snow.)

NineStar Press has its call out for Holiday 2017 manuscripts of 5K to 30K words, all heat levels so long as there's a LGBTQIA+ love story at its center, due at the end of July. The holidays they're interested in include, but aren't limited to, Chanukah/Hanukkah, Christmas, Halloween, Kwanzaa, New Year’s Eve or Day, Samhain, and Thanksgiving. You finally have a place for that Festivus story, huh?

See more at https://ninestarpress.com/submissions/ --and like you always do, please vet this and any other publisher for legitimacy before submitting your work to them.

Maryn, paternalism personified
