Nope - Chris got it wrong, so you get next reference - if Chris is the first to chime in (with a right answer, then his comes back into play! LOL ) :)

Go for it...

Why do I find it hard to write the next line?

OMG! Finally I got one! I look on here all the time and almost never know, but this is:

Spandau Ballet - True

I'll come back with my Lyric pick--have to think . . . Okay, I've got one.

"I shot my mouth off and you showed me what that hole was for"

I'll switch this, same artist:

Welcome to the human race
With it's wars, disease and brutality
You with your innocence and grace
Restore some pride and dignity
To a world in decline

Oh man . . . I was so happy, but now I feel like a thread killer . . .

Here's a cover song by the same artist that's more recent. First song was debut album, second one mid career, and this one is one of the last hits.

"Well there's blood in these veins
And I cry when in pain
I'm only (title)
And if looks can deceive
Make it hard to believe
I'm only (title)"

Good luck all! :)

Just guessing - is this Human by The Pretenders?

Don't know the previous two...

If that's right, here's my next lyrics:

"...It's time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars forever
..."

If not, disregard me lol :)

Ding-ding-ding! I meant to come back and quote "Brass in Pocket" LOL!

"Tattooed Love Boys" was the first one, and it was recently in the news due to her auto-biography.

"Show Me" was the second one.

As usual, your lyrics are vaguely familiar, but I'll leave it to the rest of you!

Congrats, and thanks for rescuing me from thread killing!

If that's right, here's my next lyrics:

"...It's time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars forever
..."

I know more of the lyrics:

"...Baby I can't fight this feeling anymore...I've forgotten what I started fighting for...and if I have to ("do something?") on the floor, come crashing through your door..."

That's all I can remember of the lyrics, and my best guess of the band is REO Speedwagon (←I butchered it, right?)

No, I think you're right! I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore by REO Speedwagon. It was one of the songs Mr. Maxwell and I considered for our first dance at our wedding. :)

This is the one we decided on:

I've been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine and I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you

At first I thought it was the Little River Band and I heard Freddie Mecury......Queen "Your My Best Friend"

This is one my wife loves.....from when I first met her. :)

Never reaching the end
Letters I've written
Never meaning to send

Beauty I'd always missed
With these eyes before
Just what the truth is
I can't say any more

The most requested slow song to dance to when I was in High school and college - Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues (Days of Future Past).

Lyrics:

I'm young, I know
But even so
I've learned a thing or two
I've learned from you...

Love Hurts, The Everly Brothers

Ah, the days when we could understand and sing along to all the words! :)

Next up:

"...The sheik he drove his Cadillac..."

Love Hurts, Nazareth from Hair of the Dog was the one I was thinking of, but I'm beginning to think every song has been covered at one time or another. *sigh*

Because there are so many songs that reference sheiks, right? :D Rock the Casbah - The Clash

let's see, what's coming up on the radio?

I cut my teeth on wedding rings in the movies

Augh! It took me fifteen minutes of singing that line over and over!

"Rhythm of the Night" by DeBarge!

You gave so much as the Queen of Hearts,
To those without love,

Oh crap, now I remember where I heard that (I think anyway)... someone sang it for Princess Diana's funeral, right?

I forget the title, and suspect it was a cover, but am drawing a blank, only remembering where I think I'd heard it before.

Give us a hint (or the answer) and go again! :)

Jason's hint of Princess Diana jogged my memory:

Goodbye English Rose - Elton John?

His remade Candle in the Wind?
