Legendary Child, Aerosmith

"Cecil gives me coffee and won't never take my coin, I got thirty dollar in my pocket, whatchu doin'? "

Hmm, no takers? Time for another clue?
Here's the first line with the title redacted:

"Downstairs at _________________________ they got a juke box, goes 'dointdoint'"

Danny's All-Star Joint by Rickie Lee Jones...

Just a personal note - I knew it from the first reference, didn't need the second, but I only get a chance to visit in the evenings and early mornings, so if your post is made at say, 9am, I wouldn't expect someone to reply with the answer before 1pm. Give it a day or two before more hints! :)

That said, here's the new lyrics:

"Is it so wrong to be human after all?"

Well, I posted the first clue at 11:34 AM on Wednesday April 26th and the extra clue at 3:11 PM on Thursday April 27th, so it was up for more than 24 hours with no response. But I'll give it more time in the future.

"Is it so wrong to be human after all?"

It was all over the radio in the late 80s, and I can hear the next line although I never understood the words of that line. I never knew the title or artist either. Funny how something so popular can totally escape me.

It was "Show Me How to Live" by Audioslave. :)

New lyric:

"And it's a hard winter's day
I dream away"

That one was It Must Have Been Love by Roxette.

"As the reasons for the carnage cut their meat and lick the gravy
We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies"

"We oil the jaws" part rings a bell. I want to say War Pigs by Black Sabbath, but I can't recall the song well enough to make those lyrics fit.

Two Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden

:)

Sorry been teaching for the last two weeks so didn't see the others before you started a new quote

"...There's nothing fair in this world
There's nothing safe in this world..."

Oh crap.

"...But when you kissed me in the club you bit my tongue..."

I can see him, I can hear it, but his name and the song just aren't coming to me...

Motel Blues by Loudon Snowden Wainwright III. (The rest of the lyrics are... well, think, Don't Stand So Close to Me.)

*Since I cheated, I won't offer up a next round of lyrics.*

"We don't care about no government warnings,
'bout that promotion of a simple life of the dams they're building."

More:

Brimful of Asha - Cornershop

(Pretty obscure, but a good tune nonetheless...)

Let's go mainstream again now with:

"Mine's an ordinary life, working when it's daylight and sleeping when it's night..."
