He held court at the end of the table, describing the gall he and his partner had abandoned. No, more than that. Describing the other, neighboring galls they'd have brought in before the storm came down.

“What do you think?” Basil asked, his eyes twinkling. “Want to learn how to do that?”

I'm gonna cheat a bit and use the last line from the actual scene I was writing. My technical last line was from a disconnected chunk of a scene I was writing on the side, and it's quite frankly not very good.

“Yeah,” I said. “We did.”

It's a lot more impactful in context. :tongue

In the distance, though, we can see the twinkling lights of another city attached to a cliff further down the chasm; Xuanya, if my navigation hasn't gotten all screwed up while I was out in the universe.

Maire kept that steady gaze on me until I slunk out the door.

He struggled with his lips, which were engaged in a tug-of-war between a frown and a smile.

From Day 6:

"So what were you two up to while I was gone?" Laurel asked, combing her fingers through the dummy's hair, and noting the undone buttons. "He didn't give you any trouble, did he?"

Last line of today;

I was willing to humiliate myself for a pretty girl, as long as there was no one around to witness it.

Clocking out early on Day 8:

He straightened with difficulty, saluted her with a prominent middle finger, and slammed the door behind him.

Day 7:

No, my brain was not paying attention to my electrical systems and once it was gone, I wouldn't have any reason to notice until the next time I used it.

Day 8:

While the Mezzo layer is the clearest of the three atmospheric layers of the planet, there's enough pollution mixing in the atmosphere that the air has to be filtered before it's brought indoors.

The last thing I wrote yesterday was
[This is the last sentence I wrote before Donald Trump became president]

I'm not sure I have the heart for NaNo anymore. My creativity seems to have fled. :(

Suffice it to say he was the perfect light to his mother’s dark, and the indisputable spit of his redheaded father, and the most delightful company on afternoon walks, and a wonderful distraction from September 11, and

(then, like Elaine, I was disappointed into silence)

Pure darkness wicked up from the floor and coalesced into a column of writhing smoke.*

*Technically this was yesterday's last line.

If I don't have energy to write after chorus rehearsal, here's my last line:

The streets are mainly empty, except for a few straggling people running by, and for anyone used to the hustle and bustle of pedestrian traffic on Set, it's unnerving.

Last sentence/group of sentences:

Beneath the cheering of the crowd, I feel an odd silence settle around me. No breath, no heart beat, nothing but the pulsing of blood in my ears. It's the deep stillness that accompanies shock, right before the world falls into chaos. It's the knowledge that I have just been outed by the last person on earth I'd ever have expected.

(all but the last sentence apply to last night, though I wasn't thinking about that at the time I wrote them)

Thanks for continuing to share the last lines, everyone. I don't have any last lines to share from yesterday, as no writing was had. :( But I shall live vicariously and creatively through all yours and look to tomorrow as another day!

Heh, last line turns out to be part of my favorite line(s), which I'll put elsewhere (since context is key!)

"Surely you don't kiss your mother with that mouth."
