Did a lot of bouncing around in my manuscript yesterday and ended up with this:

If anything, the smug curl of his lips and the glint in his cold, flint gray eyes were even more unnerving on a human face.

Day || ending:

“Stop moving.” She yanked his chin back, eyes going over his cheek only a moment before she plunged the needle in a new spot.

November 2:

(A king has given a present (a sword) to the person that his daughter has chosen to marry someday, who he thought was going to be a man but ended up being a woman. He wants her to prove herself in combat with one of his knights.)

Gwen smiled in amusement. “I can see you had this sword forged for a man. No matter. I can handle it. Thank you.”
Tristan nodded. “Prove it.”
“Now?” Gwen asked, surprised.
“Now!” Tristan demanded. “Entertain us!” He clapped his hands twice. “Sir Brentley, come forth!”

Cashing it in early today. I'm tired and it's starting to show in my words. Last line for Day 3:

Sophie had been singularly unimpressed, and spent the rest of the afternoon trying to work out what the hell was wrong with the French.

"The only birthright owed to her is a mop and bucket."

Ouch. That's harsh even out of context.

“Makes sense,” Basil said. “How's your sense of taste?”

Day 3:

I'm in the land of fragrances, the air full of heavy flowery scents. The amalgamation makes me cough, but I don't let it slow me down.

Day 3:
"Two love stories, two leads, one a villain, and still, of course, a clown.” to which he adds a flourishing bow, ending in an exaggeratedly clumsy fall onto the floor.

Day 3:
The House, the galled-pink ever-orderly House. They couldn't possibly reason out that the way to maintain a crew is to deprive every possible farm hand of sleep.

November 3:

(The MC of my tough-cop cyberpunk novella is describing the ultimate prison in her city and nation.)

I drove us to the Vanity City Prison. I guess I should explain what the Pit is. It's a subterranean level of the prison. The above-ground level is for violent offenders that could possibly be rehabilitated someday. The Pit is for the worst of the worst: murderers, rapists, terrorists, large-scale drug dealers, and other scum that have made unsuccessful attempts at the same. There is no rehabilitation for them. No second chance. No hope. They are sent down into the Pit for the rest of their lives, natural or otherwise.

Last line of tonight (though I won't be keeping it):

She’s since had a string of horrific relationships, all with terrible guys she tries to get to love her, with no success.

The storms were coming, and in some unknown variable time, I would leave Bendice.

I pulled my notebook out of my pocket and tried to compose a few more scales as I walked the rest of the way to class, but I couldn’t erase that strange encounter from my mind.

Last line of Day 4 and end of chapter:

He shook it off with a scowl and returned to his paper to scope out the Weekly Word Jumble.

November 4:

(My MC, a police cadet, and a sergeant have just had to deal with the murder of the sergeant's partner.)

I nodded and stared at him. Daily tried to not show it, but I could tell he wanted to cry, badly, but didn't want to do so in front of others. I quietly walked away and bought a cola from a vending machine.

Day 5:

"You're gonna have to be more specific than that," Rolf said. "Animal, vegetable, or mineral? And if you tell me you're not sure, I may have your answer."

Last line(s) of the day:

Fear flashes across his face. “Oh, no. NO, no, no. I can do this without your help.”
“Nope,” I say. “You can’t. Look around. This house, your clothes, your haircut… it all needs to be revamped and I’m just the person to do it.”
“Oh god,” he groans. “I don’t think I’ve ever been more frightened in my life.”
