I've written a short story that I'm very confident about, but I'm afraid it might be a hard sell. It's already been rejected once, and I'm afraid it's because of the graphic violence within. The violence is actually necessary to the plot--it revolves entirely around a magic spell that involves one character ripping another character's heart out and replacing it with a stone.
Anybody know of any publications that both pay and are fine with higher levels of gore?
