neolatry - worship of novelty

... because new is good? Well, not always, but whether you're Nanowrimo-ing, Not-a-hope-a-wrimo-ing, or plain just slogging along like the rest of us, all new words and new words from old are welcome here.

State your goals and share your progress, or just pop in to hang out.

Last month was a bit of a mess, but this month I'm 100% here for the NaNo spirit.

1. Write 50,000 words!
2. Get back on the healthy eating bandwagon. (*shakes fist at Halloween treats*)
3. Keep on spinning and walking.
4. Finish the first Game of Thrones book.
5. Try and catch up with my NetGalley reads.

Oh, come on. It couldn't possibly be November yet.

(checks calendar) @#$%#!!

Okay. So. October was. MS got submitted. Got a little feedback from my agent, but nothing from The Editors yet. Odds that I'll get the marked-up MS back while I'm in the middle of NaNo insanity: about even, I'm guessing.

I have a few bits of promo scheduled for November (the book comes out in one week!), but nothing that should detract from my big focus, which is NaNoing the daylights out of my next book.

I have this fantasy of 5K a day. This is...probably unrealistic. I'll commit to 2K a day for purposes of this thread. But I can't help but think if I can really do 5K a day I'll actually have something finished-ish at the end of the month, although it'll be a big mass of formless jell-o. (I think it's more likely that my brain will be a big mass of formless jell-o.)

Go, November! Yay, everyone! :hooray: :hooray:

I'm not doing any of the NaNoWriMo stuff. Goals for this month are simple.

Successes of October
-I finished writing my novelette.
-I wrote a short story and edited it.

Goals for November
-Make the corrections for my short story in the doc.
-Submit my short story by the 18th
-Edit my novelette. It's 43 pages double-spaced and I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the week.
-Find some beta readers willing to work on a very very tight schedule.
-and finally, submit my novelette before the 30th.

I'd also like to finish Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen, but it's not important that I do.

I should probably post my own goals, having started the thread... :)

1. Write as much as I can on the WIP. Not officially doing Nano, but lots of words would be nice.
2. Finish a certain song I'm working on
3. Finish reading The Spy Who Came In From The Cold (which is awesome, btw)
4. Do some bloody exercise and eat a bit better

ETA: Note to self at the end of the month - you started on 7786 words. So >7786 is a win.

Not Nanoing, although I wish I were.

I finished and submitted my short story/novelette for the antho. I did a first pass revision on Ever Touched. Now I need to start the second pass and finish revising it this month b/c it is due Dec 1st.

And I'm taking a class.

So....this month will be insane.

You are all properly ambitious. I... will write a scene? I'd settle for one scene. My intensely busy time at work should downshift slightly in two weeks. I think. And the correlating stress will also diminish, which opens up mental space for creativity. I cannot write when I'm stressed.

Last month, I edited about 11K. See if I can do that, or more, again this month, until I catch up to where I need new material.

Nobody told me we were doing fitness goals! I have November fitness goals! I want to increase my workout time by 10%, and kick up the intensity a little. It's a small goal and totally achievable, as long as I don't slack off.

I didn't hit 5K today, but I did get 2501!

Slightly over 2K edited/rearranged/fresh words today. Good start to what is hopefully a better month than the last.

1911 words yesterday, but only 846 were for my "NaNo-WIP". I'm don't think I have a hope in hell of hitting 1,600 words a day on a single book, my brain is a multi-tasking-obsessed thing, but counting multi-project words feels like cheating. I have no idea what to do. :(

5,141. I'm at 12,679 according to Scrivener.

My day is not improved, but as writing is what I do to cope with the crappy stuff life sometimes dishes up...I'm still writing.

256 words! :hooray:

For some reason my computer won't make spaces when I type a post that quotes something. Awkward.

I have to admit, every time I see a post or message with the spacebar problem it makes me grin. There's always a cry for help involved so I feel bad laughing, but I also read it very fast in my head and it amuses me. Sorry, I'm a sadist, apparently.

2097 words today from here. I'd love to keep up that pace.

Also, OMG to writing 5K a day! That's what you call output! :hooray:
