Happy March, NaNoers! Ready to state your goals for the month?

Since I have no theatrical work scheduled for this month (the caca hits the fan in April), I swear I will finish Goals #1 and #2, which have dogged me for months. A few other goals are in line after that, just to keep things interesting:

1) Finish rough draft of Book #3 in my fantasy series
2) Revise manuscript of Book #2 in series
3) Read three books
4) Write a blog post
5) Take three good long nature walks
6) Read scripts for four new musicals for play-reading group
7) Decide if I'll have time to participate in Camp Nano in April

Okay, gang - have at it!

In trying to keep myself accountable, here goes:

1: Finish first draft of current fiction WiP
2: Outline two (yes, two!) non-fiction works
3: Read fiction for at least 30 mins a day (I've been slipping lately)
4: Keep my nature diary up to date
5: Er...I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of what at the moment

ETA: 6: Clear out my email inboxes.

Okay, March. Be better than February.

1. Edit four chapters of Book 2.
2a. AGENT LIST.
2b. Send first proper batch of queries.
3. Read five books.
4. Read many shorts.
5. 500 words or 2 pages edited min/day.

So this month will hopefully be a reading month. I really need to get rid of some of these tabs in my browser :p

Fuzzy goals just now, I hope to solidify my aims a bit more later in the month.

1) Write 20k.
2) Find a project to focus on/productive rhythm instead of hopping around.
3) Beta read a short story.
4) Read one book.
5) Make some art.

My list is all the things I didn't do last time. I feel like such a slacker...

  • 5 more scenes in the WIP (might be easier than counting to the end)
  • Finish paper revision on MS
  • Send out 5 queries
  • Add 5 agents to the list
  • Get car in for a check up
  • Get dog in for a check up
  • Make wine

I sent my first proper batch of queries today. So soon I will get more rejections. Joy?

I read Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal. Once I got used to the style, I found it quite enjoyable. Had some flaws, had some things I would have done differently, but overall I liked. I'm now reading Sorcerer to the Crown. Again, I had to get used to the style - lots of 'telling', POV swaps, etc - but now I'm very much enjoying it. I've heard it's quite light, but I need light at the moment - I was trying to read Ian Tregillis' The Mechanical before that.

1. Edit four chapters of Book 2. 0/4
2a. AGENT LIST.
2b. Send first proper batch of queries. Done.
3. Read five books. 1/5
4. Read many shorts.
5. 500 words or 2 pages edited min/day.

In spite of a hellishly long audition day yesterday ('tis the season for casting at regional and summer stock houses), I got a little reading done but no writing. I finished Animal Farm day before yesterday, immediately started E.L. Doctorow's Billy Bathgate and finished that this afternoon. Some progress beats none at all, I guess.

1) Finish rough draft of Book #3 in my fantasy series - about 500 words written
2) Revise manuscript of Book #2 in series - haven't touched it
3) Read three books -
2 out of 3
4) Write a blog post -
not yet
5) Take three good long nature walks -
none yet; maybe today
6) Read scripts for four new musicals for play-reading group -
1
out of 4
7) Decide if I'll have time to participate in Camp Nano in April -
pending

Today's goals:

  • edit 50 pages in client project #2
  • edit 50 pages in client project #1 (finish the project)
  • write two mini-reviews on my book review blog
  • write 4k words in Ghostslayer
  • write guest post for blog tour

I was in a small car accident yesterday - well, we bumped into something, but no one got seriously hurt - and now I have whiplash. My head hurts, my neck hurts, my spine hurts... So I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do today.

This month I plan to finish the revised ending for my dark fantasy novel. 85,000/??

The only significant change that still needs to happen is the merging of two minor characters into one more prominent character, but otherwise I'm satisfied with both my plot and the characters.

Actually made some progress on a few things. That's a nice change. :evil

  • 5 more scenes in the WIP (might be easier than counting to the end)
  • Finish paper revision on MS Done!
  • Send out 5 queries 1/5, with the other four identified and added to the spreadsheet
  • Add 5 agents to the list 3/5!
  • Get car in for a check up
  • Get dog in for a check up
  • Make wine Done! (more accurately, "Started!" I suppose?)

With Camp Nano on the horizon, do you folks want me to make us a cabin? I've done the last few, and I'd be glad to start another. Let me know!

I think I'm going to be in this year, even though the second half of the month is probably going to be batshit and I'll have to make my goal with that in mind. I'd love to be in an AW cabin again.
