I've had two excellent writing days in a row and have, at last, reached The Big Climax of my WIP (the two MCs are finally smooching - hooray!). Now I've got the denouement to write and some ends to tie up and I can write THE END on this very rough, overlong first draft. I think I'm on target to finish it by the end of the month. Naturally, nothing else has been accomplished while all this is going on, but I'm okay with that.

1) Finish rough draft of Book #3 in my fantasy series - about 9000 words written
2) Revise manuscript of Book #2 in series Holding off until April's Camp NaNo
3) Read three books - 3
out of 3 DONE
4) Write a blog post -
not yet
5) Take three good long nature walks -
1 of 3
6) Read scripts for five new musicals for play-reading group -
3 out of 5
7) Decide if I'll have time to participate in Camp Nano in April
DONE

I've spent most of the past two days tinkering with the most recent scene in my WIP (the smoochy one), and finally have it in a shape where I feel like I can move forward. So not a lot of words added (actually, I think I may have subtracted some) but I'm okay with that. I read another musical script but haven't done much else. Tomorrow I have no plans except for making Easter dinner, so maybe I'll be able to get that last script finished and do some writing, too.

Real life interfered with writing this week in a big way, so in spite of huge steps forward on my WIP, I am not at the end of it yet. :( That's a big disappointment. I'd really hoped to finish, but I had auditions every day this week except today, and today I got word from my agent that all three of the editors who were reading the first book in the series took a pass on it. Kind of took the wind out of my sails. Le sigh.

I did finish reading my assigned plays, so that's at least one more goal met. All in all it wasn't a bad month, but I had so hoped to finish that draft...

Okay, let's see:
March Goals:

  • Plan my CampNaNo project Done!
  • Keep writing streak going Done!
  • Watch at least part of Jessica Jones and/or Agent Carter
  • Get back to running 5K Done!

Constant Goals:

  • Continue to work on getting writing in earlier in the day (little backsliding, but still earlier than before)
  • Work on shifting wake-up & go-to-sleep times (oddly, doing well on the waking up, not so good on the getting to bed before 11)

Not too bad, actually :)

March crapped on me pretty badly, but I actually managed to pull myself back into things a little. The three chapters I did might end up being two, but I did them. I got a couple more books read - Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho, which was lovely, and The Shepherd's Crown by Terry Pratchett, which really hit me when I started thinking about what might happen to the characters after the book. I will never know :(

I did not read as many shorts as I would have liked, but I read more than I normally would. I almost caught up on DSF; then my internet went bye bye and I fell behind again.

I received many rejections. I am dejected.

1. Edit four chapters of Book 2. 3/4
2a. AGENT LIST. No
2b. Send first proper batch of queries. Done.
3. Read five books. 3/5
4. Read many shorts. Kind of.
5. 500 words or 2 pages edited min/day. Fail

  • 5 more scenes in the WIP 2/5
  • Finish paper revision on MS Done!
  • Send out 5 queries 4/5
  • Add 5 agents to the list Done! 6/5
  • Get car in for a check up Done!
  • Get dog in for a check up Done!
  • Make wine Done!/Started! (In secondary, almost ready to go to bottles once I decide if I want to add sorbate.)

My full is still out, and it's the first time I have a chance for real feedback. I'm completely unable to send another query until I see that... which might be vaguely forever... All in all, not a bad month. I'm ready for Camp, I need to get some words on the page!
