Hoping for some help - I chose "Control Panel" weeks ago in settings for notifications (yes, I saved it and checked that I saved it, and rechecked that I saved it) but I'm still getting emails. Lots of them. Every day.

Any ideas?

Email from AW?
I can go take a look. :-/

But your own control panel really should have taken care of it.

Back in a sec!

Huh.

What kind of email notifications are you getting, precisely? (We can take this to PM, as well, if you'd like!)

You have your Thread Subscription set to Automatically Subscribe without Notification.

That means any thread you post in will send you a notification of all new posts in that thread.

To change this:

Click Settings on the top right of any AW forum window.
Scroll down to the section labeled My Settings in the sidebar on the left.
Click General Settings.
Scroll down to the section labeled Messaging & Notification in the central section.
Under the Default Thread Subscription Mode heading, there's a pull down menu.
This setting determines your default automatic setting for Thread Subscriptions.
I generally suggest people use Do Not Subscribe, and then subscribe to the threads they specifically want to have notifications for.
After you select an option, scroll all the way to the bottom, and click Save Changes.

See: FAQ: Everything You Wanted to Know About Thread Subscriptions

Thank you! I knew I was missing something :)

ETA: Interesting. That's where I'd set it to "control panel only" (not by emails), but was still getting emails.
Oh well. Have set to to "do not subscribe" now and will cross my fingers. Thanks again.

If that doesn't fix it, PM me; I can toggle the settings as Admin, in case the database is being naughty, but we would need to coordinate timeing.

Um, yeah. So I've done all this.

Still getting emails...

ETA: Just saw the new messages above. Shall PM now :)

Oh! The mystery deepens......... You should make notes for a future story.

It'll be less "Thriller" and more "Insomnia Curer" methinks. There must be a market for that, though...

Hopefully it's fixed now. If you want to know how, you'll have to ask AW Admin :)
