I'd love to see some subs for my anthology from the absolutewrite folks. Full details on the project are over here:
http://johninthejohn.my-free.website/
We are looking for two types of submissions 1) for the anthology and 2) for the free humor writing contest with a cash prize. We encourage humor for regular anthology submissions, too, but there are a few differences in between what we are looking for in each (chiefly strictness to word-count, humor content, and the reprints policy). This is a Christian specific market and there will be a print version. multiple subs are welcome!

SUBMISSION DETAILS
1. What we're looking for: Looking especially for personal stories or reflections on facts/events/culture/popular media/etc. Humor is highly encouraged (as long as itís not forced). Each entry must also include a relevant scripture reference from the Gospel of John. Humor must be appropriate for an age 12+ audience and should not use vulgar language. Entries must be no longer than 1000 words. Preference is given to stories of 500 words or less; please write concisely--works ranging upwards of 500 words should have a clear and engaging story that demands the space to support its full telling.
Please include a 1-3 sentence author bio which may point to a ministry, website link, etc.
Multiple submissions are accepted and encouraged.
2. This book is the first of its kind! You might say it's a number 1. We are hopeful that a second release (perhaps a "Luke in the John,") or a number 2, might have a strong enough track record to pay contributors. Currently there is no payment offered for this anthology, but published contributors will have the option to purchase copies of the collection at reduced rates. Full rights to use contracted stories in this collection will be given.

If your work is a reprint, we welcome it, however this must be disclosed as well as the original date and location of publication so this may be cited alongside author's bio.
3. Format and guidelines: Please send your work either in the body of an email or as an attachment. We only accept electronic submissions. ONLY send attachments as MS Word files (doc or docx). Please send us your submission with the word count and author name at the top and include your scripture reference.
Format should be Times new Roman (preferred) or Courier in 12 pt. Single or double spaced is acceptable. The subject line must include the words "Anthology Submission"
Please email submissions to: devointhejohn@gmail.com
4. Please note that all editorial decisions are final and if chosen for print, your story may be edited for space, grammar, content, etc. The Anthology publication date is aiming for the 4th quarter of 2016 but is subject to market demands for the launch date.

CONTEST DETAILS
1. What we're looking for: Contest entries must be both funny AND have a teachable point that draws off of a text from the Gospel of John. Humor must be appropriate for an age 12+ audience and should not use vulgar language. Entries must be no longer than 1000 words. Preference is given to stories of 500 words or less; please write concisely--works ranging upwards of 500 words should have a clear and engaging (and humorous,) story that demands more space to support its full telling.
Please include a 1-3 sentence author bio which may point to a ministry, website link, etc.
Multiple submissions are accepted and encouraged.
2. Rights, fees, awards, and reprints: By submitting to this contest, you give us the rights to publish your story in our anthology as we see fit. Judges will pick their top three favorite entries; the top three will be printed in the book. First place will be printed on the entry for April 1, get a copy of the book, and receive $100. Second and Third place will each receive a copy of the book.
Entry Fee: THERE IS NONE. This is a totally free writing contest; there is no fee, but contestants give first publication rights to be used in John in the John. That said, if your work is a reprint, we welcome it as a regular submission to our anthology (which DOES accept reprints), but it's not quite a good fit for us as a contest entry.
3. Format and guidelines: Please send your work either in the body of an email or as an attachment. We only accept electronic submissions. ONLY send attachments as MS Word files (doc or docx). Please send us your submission with the word count and author name at the top and include your scripture reference.

4. Contest Details: All contestants to the contest will be notified of the winner by the end of August. You will also be informed if your story will be included in the anthology/devotional regardless of placement within the top three.
Please note that all editorial decisions are final and if chosen for print, your story may be edited for space, grammar, content, etc. Contest will close to submissions on August 15, 2016. The Anthology publication date is aiming for the 4th quarter of 2016 but is subject to market demands for the launch date.
