A heart-rending story regarding the obscure French carol, Le fils du roi de gloire.

More than 60 years ago, a little Dene boy, alone at a mission hospital far from his home in Fort Resolution, Northwest Territories, heard a Christmas carol that gave him much-needed comfort.

“I wish I could hear that song again just once more. I don't know how long I'm going to be in this world yet, but if I could hear that song again during the holiday, then I'll be happy.”

- Alex Tambour

A happier version from West Indies (as far as I can tell. Could be Guadeloupe or Haiti.

and of course! This one does not get as much airplay as it deserves - a very catchy tune Stuck in the Smoke Hole of our Tipi!!

There is a version of "Grandma Got Run Over the Reindeer" that broadcast on Alberta's aboriginal radio channel (probably the best country music station in Alberta) that used local Cree idiom. Can't find anything on it on the internet. If I could, I would share the changes made.
