I haven't freelanced in years and I never did it full time, but for some reason (being broke, maybe?) I feel pulled into it again.
At one magazine I worked for, the editor used writers and illustrators he found on freelancesuccess.com. It's a paid site ($99/year), which isn't crazy expensive but I know how things go in and out of favor and I don't want to throw good money away.
I'm wondering if anyone here has recent experience with it. I became suspicious when I searched a term and got an Excel spreadsheet of markets, last updated in 2007. I searched a few more and no result was updated in this decade, but I don't know if maybe I found old archived documents since I shouldn't have found anything they keep behind a paywall.
I appreciate your feedback. PS I focus on nonfiction.
