A lunar occultation of the bright star Aldebaran:

Aldebaran is one of the most visibly bright stars in the sky, and is easy to spot, in part because of its conspicuously orange color. It is bright enough to be visible even in cities. Living in Alaska, I won't get to see this one, but there will be another on Thanksgiving night in the U.S. in November, which will be visible in much of Canada and across Alaska. With any luck it will be cold and clear that night.
