Oooh, JJ, the HAIR! <3 I lurves it! I don't see everyone's avatars when I'm lurking from my email.
Lol, thanks!

Okay, so, like, I tallied it up a few days ago, and it seems I have written over 3.2m words in 9 (nine) years, if only just (3,235,948). And that's not including paper, or stuff I couldn't find. I'm not sure how to feel about this number... is it a good number? Something I should be bragging about? Iunno, but I thought it deserved mentioning at least. I guess it's something... :\
Dammy, my calculator says that's over 359k a year, so it's hardly anything to sneeze at. Putting words on paper at all is nothing to sneeze at, no matter the number.
I know people who've desperately wanted to be writers for years and still sit at zero actual words written. You should totes be proud.

Considering a"standard" mass market novel is between 80k and 120k words, that's the equivalent of 3-5 books a year.
Noooooo one gets played by Luke Evans like Gaston!I saw Beauty and the Beast today! ILOVEDITILOVEDITILOVEDIT! It was so purtyful and I loved the new scenes and songs! Aaaaaaaaand nobody plays Gaston like Luke Evans! <33333333
Oh, yes, very pretty. I'd actually been contemplating doing something similar.Oooh, JJ, the HAIR! <3 I lurves it! I don't see everyone's avatars when I'm lurking from my email.

Aaaand, I just wrote the first on-screen casualty of In Dreams They Came. Creepy monster/critter thing goes DOWN! \o/

All of this! You ROCK Dam-rock-lian
I was going to write more on my new WIP. Instead I wrote a little (like 100 words) and went back to Misfortune of Vision to add the pronunciation/definition appendix. Since I write historical fiction set in 12th century Ireland, it's needed. Trust me I also wrote the dedication (to my grandmother, who died at age 97 while I wrote the book... and since the main character is a grandmother, I thought it apropos) and a foreword. All the little bits. Also, put in the small changes from my author's group last night.
Now... now I can get back to Misfortune of Song. Or write that short story. No, no, Misfortune of Song it is.

Oh! Almost forgot to mention! I'll be speaking at the Steuben County Library tomorrow as part of a Writers' Conference. I'll be talking about writing a novel as a plotter, and my friend Michelle (head of the author group) is going to talk about writing a novel as a pantser.

Not too shabby.
Afternoon, gang.
Whut up?
Damo, that's amazing. That's downright inspiring! It's definitely something, no guessing about it. I think a lot of people would envy your ability to get words down and work done. Too many of us (myself included) like to wait for our muse to be in the write (bah dum psh! *rimshot*) mood, but I've seen so many career authors say it's not about the muse, it's about the grind and writing whether you feel like it or not. So good on you, and keep it up!
ETA: And now I'm curious about my own career wordcount... *finds calculator*
I dunno what it is, but I keep leaving the Cantina with this weird craving for cake. As if someone has been talking about delicious, delicious cake. Anyone else experiencing this?

Just because there was none left when you came in, it doesn't mean there wasn't a cake altogether *licks fingers*...*kicks crumbs under sofa*. Weekend cake is obligatory. The cake is a lie.
I can't wait for the food 3-D printer that lets you scan pictures from cookbooks and it just produces delicious results.Cookbooks are heaven.

Much as I want to do this, it will take away from my limited writing time for today. Also, are y'all including word counts from outlines, character biographies, general story notes, etc., or just words from the stories themselves? Depending on which I count, I could end up with some drastically different totals.ETA: And now I'm curious about my own career wordcount... *finds calculator*
Aggy and I both mentioned cake yesterday. She was making her own and I had ice cream cake for my dad's birthday. My dad's ice cream cake had ganache on top and drizzled down the sides, and the parts that didn't have ganache had whipped cream frosting. Inside was a sweet cream ice cream layer with brownie bits mixed in, chocolate cake layers, and a chocolate ice cream layer with Oreo crumbles mixed in. It was gooooood.I dunno what it is, but I keep leaving the Cantina with this weird craving for cake. As if someone has been talking about delicious, delicious cake. Anyone else experiencing this?
Kewl.I came to a part of my story where I needed to describe a meal. I am not a cook. I can describe architecture, landscapes, clothing, but I have no idea what flavors go well with others, or textures (Seriously, the one time I tried to make Thai food didn't end well...*shudder*). So I consulted the Almighty Google looking for some recipes from the historical period I loosely based my story's setting on. And lo, I found a 13th century cookbook from Moorish Spain. I am sooo happy.
