So, this just passed through my Facebook.

[h=1]Wes Craven, Horror Maestro, Dies at 76[/h]
Wes Craven, the famed writer-director known for the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream movies, died Sunday after a battle with brain cancer. He was 76.

Craven, whose iconic Freddy Krueger character horrified viewers, died at his home in Los Angeles, his family announced.

Well, that pretty much puts a damper on the weekend. Rest in peace Master Craven.

What a shame. I didn't realize he was 76, or that he was ill. It seems like he remained fairly active.

The Elm Street movies aside, The Hills Have Eyes was the first horror movie I saw. It was at the 'Medowdale cinema6'. I was there with the family to see something else and I stepped into the 'Hills' showing on accident and stayed for the rest of the film. At 10years old I loved it.

I never was a fan of his movies, and less so of the man, but it's always sad seeing anyone die who has made such an impact on so many people.
