"You fail only if you stop writing" ~Ray Bradbury~
"The road to hell is paved with adverbs" ~Stephen King~
WIP Romance or Women's fiction, hopefully by the end I'll know.
"If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word." ~Margaret Atwood~
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." ~Mary Angelou~

    Andy Weir, of course.

    Stephen King and Nelson DeMille.

But Tim Cockey has a series of mysteries whose MC, Hitchcock Sewell, runs a funeral parlour with his aunt. Most of the titles include the word "Hearse" (The Hearse You Came In On, Hearse of a Different Color...). He now writes in a more serious vein as Richard Hawke, but his Hearse series killed me.
It's a simple fact of life that not everyone will be your target audience.

I remember laughing out loud so many times while reading James Herriot's novels in middle school: the man was brilliant, and some of his character description is hilarious. I recently went back to look at those novels again, and was pleased to see that his writing is still something I consider really good (unlike other beloved novels from my early years I've revisited).
