It's because employers are allowed to impose work-rules. By accepting the job, we agree to them.I wonder why, in a freedom loving country like the US, a company can restrict what you're doing in your off-time. Is it because, you know, drugs are bad and all that, or because people simply accept their boss has that kind of power over them?
We live in a mj-legal state. My son couldn't get on with a factory (not on the floor, but as a go-fer in high school) because he had residual THC in his bloodstream. The company builds parts for airplanes and they're subject to FAA regulation. They can't have even a question of drug use there, should any of their parts come into question in a crash situation. So everyone, CEO on down, has to be drug-free. If you want to work there you comply. If you don't want to comply, you don't work there.
