Hello, I'm BRAND NEW.

It's just taken me half an hour to add a profile picture. I am a luddite.

I've recently completed two novels and I work in a library. I'm currently listening to a ghost story radio play on Radio 4. I realise I sound really dull.

I'm here, you're there, it's all good.

Shhhhhhh! Stop tossing your noisy sabots into the library millworks, and quit braggin' you're faster postin' photos than the rest of us. :Hammer:

But congrats on your two novels, whether you read 'em or wrote 'em. :e2BIC:

And most importantly, :welcome:!

FYI, I thought you were posting about Newt Gingrich, a reprehensible politician, who fooled around while his wife was in intensive care. Thankfully, not the case.

Jump on in by the way, the water is fine.

Yup, just figured out how to reply to my own thread. I'm getting there.

I was listening to a ghost story by John Connolly called The Erlking on the radio - I think you can get it on iPlayer, it's well worth a listen.

I write adult contemporary fiction, mostly mainstream - the two novels I've just finished *could* be broadly called thrillers although I struggle to stop putting ghosts and monsters in them so I guess horror too? Something like that. It'll be going along fine and then I'll realise there's a crop circle or a werewolf lurking somewhere, echoes of all the King novels I read as a kid.

I'm still trying to figure out how radio works. Where are the closed captions? Or does a librarian stand beside a radio and sign? All these new devices are confusing, like the recent shift in libraries from easy-to-read scrolls to pages you have to flip and read the other side.

:welcome: again, Kaiki. :greenie

You are clearly wise. We can be friends. :)

Welcome, Kaiki! I'm a fellow newbie and a fellow Luddite, so we'll have to bounce knowledge off of one another as we begin exploring this little corner of the Interwebs.

You stir memories when you talk of reading Stephen King novels as a kid. He pretty much single-handedly made me a book lover, and I'm of the firm opinion that absolutely any story can be improved by even just one lurking werewolf. I look forward to hearing about your novels as you get further through the editing process.

This is a lovely welcome, thank you! Is there an area on the boards for general misery and rejection? I am feeling that today.

SO.

MUCH.

REJECTION.

Hi Kaiki!! There are tons of threads about the misery of rejection! I feel youuuuu! 4 novels, all queried, 2 shelved (200+ rejections) but I have hope for the other two yet! I love adult contemporary/thriller and your novels sound awesome. I write women's fiction, but it's dual narrative, with historical elements and a bit of creepiness and mystery too. I'm also a newbie. :)
