Better the world
where poetic deposits

accrue in value – toted,
tallied up in the telling – a type
of transaction exchanged

among some wily willing
ones who seek to find
if wealthy poets would
better the world.

AW. A very nice place!
Just a rough-hewn suggestion.

Poetic deposits
toted, tallied accrue in value
a type of transaction exchanged

among some wily willing
ones who seek to find
if wealthy poets
better the world.

Neat poem, overall.

Lovely. Great flow, and a worthy manifesto!

'seek to find' trips me up slightly. 'like to wonder' maybe? 'want to discover'? 'wish to know'? Something that underpins the consonance again and avoids the ambiguity of 'find' (locate vs discover) could work better, for me.

Thanks, Steppe! Funny thing about this poem - after I'd posted it, I decided to check & see if the phrase "Banking on Poetry" came up. I found this really cool article from the Irish Times, and further down the page was my AW poem. What also came up was a whole bunch of results with "poetry" and "bank" or "banking" in the listing. Really strange listings, I must add, that appeared to juxtapose my search terms into existing listings. For example, some of the top hits were sites listing "Bank Poetry"!!! As if there were a bunch of them, like "Love Poetry" only with a different word. And then, of course, if I clicked the link, there were NO, I mean NO, "Bank Poems" or "Bank Poetry" listed. Weird, huh?
