The "Tenets of P&CE" Discussion Thread

This is intended to be a place for comments, questions and other discussions surrounding the "Tenets of P&CE" sticky.

The Tenets are pretty much what the first graph or two says it is, an attempt to make the salient points easier to find and take in.

I'm planning to leave this thread "stuck" for a few weeks, to facilitate the discussion, then we'll probably set it adrift.
