For those who have published e-books, what are publishers offering regarding duration of the contract? Seven years? Life of copyright? How negotiable are these terms? Thanks!

I believe that typically, it's life of copyright with a rights reversion clause when the book goes out of print. Now-a-days, OOP should be defined by minimum sales, rather than the book being physically in print, given ebooks.

(I have a life of copyright with a reversion clause when the sales fall below a certain level and that level was what was negotiated.)

My contracts basically give the publishers rights forever. And I signed them, knowing there would never be a market I could reach for them on my own.

Keep in mind, everything in a contract is negotiable. You don't have to take what they give, and they don't have to give you what you want. :)
