Anyone with herding breeds (or any other breed) with Ivermectin sensitivity should be aware that Elanco has taken over the production of Interceptor for heartworm prevention.

All I can say is YAAAYYY!!!! My poor collie girl has been suffering with a monthly dose of Trifexis for over three years, and it has been traumatic for both of us. The smell of it alone makes me question whether such a thing should actually be ingested (and she agrees, sometimes quite aggressively). Not to mention that $20 a dose for something that may or may not "stay down" is a little steep.

So, thank you, Elanco Animal Health. You've done a good thing (at least this collie thinks so)!

Just to let you know - Interceptor never stopped being available. Novartis just combined it with lufenuron (a compound that interferes with flea reproduction), called it Sentinel, and made you buy the combo if you wanted it.

We never stopped carrying it.
