Thoughts on Open Mic Nights?

How many of you AW poets go to Open Mic Nights to read your poetry out loud? Do you find it useful? In what way?

I like to use these nights to just read it out loud. I don't find any useful critiques really from the crowd. And when I do go to them I usually feel like there is a certain clique of writers who run the thing that don't want to know anyone else

I've never been to one. Maybe we could do a video one, though - if we did, would you be willing to set the agenda and be the MC? (Or do those principles not apply?)

I'd be in - given our different timezones, it might be tricky. But I'd like to try.
