    [Crowdfunding] Makertime

A friend was asking me about https://makertime.com/. Has anyone had any experience with them? Thoughts on the concept?

They showcase some seriously well-known writers. I just went from outright skepticism 'How the hell can this work', to 'Some fairly good writers have already signed up.' While still being aware that Bernie Madoff took a lot of supposedly savvy people, too. I'll do a bit more digging on this one.

Thanks, Filigree. I felt the same way when I first saw it. I also noticed that the featured writers had 0-2 sponsors, so not sure who long the site has been open or how well it will work.

I noticed that, too. I know there's something to being an early adopter, but in this case I might err on the side of caution: more background research and/or waiting a year. If people I've heard of are getting low sponsorship, what's that going to mean for an unknown like me?

It seems to be like Patreon.

I know. I have friends on Patreon, and it seems more viable. Could be that it's older - but second generation companies in any business have to really prove themselves.

I really wonder when we're going to reach saturation point with all these crowdfunding options.

Not with this one, apparently. Sunk without a trace.
