Depends which god he's got active in his head today. War reacts differently than the Healer who reacts differently than the god of wine...

Question: Your MC gets a new [awesome vehicle/means of transportation] that's his/her dream car. Describe it.

Sleek, brown, well-groomed, fast, agile with four legs. Vhivi prefers to ride bare back (despite the disadvantages) so the horse has to be well-trained.

It's night and your character spots a lone person (male or female, doesn't matter) walking down a dark, empty street. An ideal target for a pickpocketing, mugging or worse. What does your character do?

Question: Your MC gets a new [awesome vehicle/means of transportation] that's his/her dream car. Describe it.

It would be the largest, plushest Magic carpet the prince could find. Large enough for his previous means of transportation - his best friend/horse Jelly - to comfortably stretch out on. Dark purple in color because that means the Magic is old and will get him places fast. It would also need some sort of invisibility or security system otherwise all the dwarfs in the kingdom will be after the Magic in the fuel tanks. He'll skip the upgraded sound system because the trips will be too fast and he doesn't want to annoy Jelly by blasting loud torture music.

Question: What was your character's favorite subject in school and why?

She didn't go to school, but if she had? Foreign languages, I suppose.

Question: Your main character falls down some stairs in a public place in a most embarrassing manner. How would they react to such terrible misfortune?

On the way down, he'd think "typical". Then he'd pick himself up, trying to act like it was no big deal, and go back to his room. Once away from other's eyes, he'd have a mini breakdown and tell himself "why don't you just apply for court jester, you idiot?"

Does your character have a favourite creative outlet?

Nadia: If plotting vengeance counts as creative, then yes. Otherwise, she doesn't have time for it.

Deril: No creative outlet. You don't have time for silly things like creativity when you're constantly training for the most important duty in the world: keeping everyone from freezing to death.

If your character had a choice between saving a loved one or saving thousands of innocent people, which would s/he choose?

A: Heh. He had that choice. He picked the loved one and now has to live with himself. It's not going so well, currently.

No exactly, but he's a sucker for old movies

Oh man... he'd try to save the loved one. He'd probably fuck it up somehow, and in the process accidentally save the thousands of innocent people instead. He'd never stop beating himself up over her loss though.

He does live in today's world(ish). Publicly he's a hieromancer. Really he's a diabolist. Actually he's a hitman.

A: Olympic level surfer, although it will be less fun without the flames. When she got back to today's world and realised it's not an Olympic sport yet, she'd do everything in her power to make it one. Then win some golds.
Or she might just compete in the ASP World Tour. She doesn't have the attention span to follow through on something like Olympic sport inclusion, but she would be very dedicated at the start of a campaign.

She knows there is never a "need" to change your own name, so wouldn't. However, her name got changed for her. Everyone called her the V'Diera (Vhivi V'Diera). What does that mean? Read the story ;)

Now, since my question got skipped (those pesky page changes) I get to ask it again:

It's night and your character spots a lone person (male or female, doesn't matter) walking down a dark, empty street. An ideal target for a pickpocketing, mugging or worse. What does your character do?

He'd wonder whether this person was a potential victim of crime, or whether s/he's the potential criminal. In his own town, he'd summon the town guard to deal with either situation.

In a strange town, he might be curious enough to follow at a distance and observe. Hmmm, a plot bunny just scooted across the darkened street.

Is your MC a morning person, or a nighthawk?

Shavonet is definitely a morning person. With the nobility sleeping 'til early afternoon, there's so much more to get doing without getting caught.

Chess finds him a tad stuffy and overbearing, but is still hoping their marriage will work out.

What's your character like when she or he is drunk?

A. Filled with self reproach, because his dad was a drunkard, and he should know better than to follow that bastard's example.

Q. If your character lived in our world (the here and now), what would his or her style of dress and self presentation be?

Q. If your character lived in our world (the here and now), what would his or her style of dress and self presentation be?

A: She'd spend the workdays in J Crew and the weekends in hiking/running gear. The people who see her in one place wouldn't guess they'd find her so comfortable in the other.

Q: What would it take to get your character to act so badly that he/she would get kicked out of a public place (bar/school/restaurant/your pick)?

A: A few good insults. His temper gets the better of him a little too often.

Q: How does your character treat someone who owes them--financially or otherwise? Are they the sort to lord it over someone?

No! he certainly wouldn't lord it over the debtor. However, he can be ruthless about calling in a debt if he sees the need. He's not above using "you owe me" to manipulate someone.

Your MC spots the most attractive person across a crowded room. What does s/he do about it?

Ha! This is scene has already been written. He stops, dumbfounded at the strength and beauty of her. He admires the shadows dancing through her red hair and the gleam in her eyes when she laughs at a joke. Then he realizes he's blocking the door and moves out of the way, blushing.

Since I've seen others that got skipped doing this:

Q: You're caught between the choice of dying quietly to uphold your ideals or to strike out against your oppressors and live, but risk becoming the sort of person you hate most. Which do you choose?

This is actually a choice she has to face. At first she's willing to stick by her ideals until it risks the lives of others. Then she fights back and lives with the self loathing of giving up her life of pacifism.

A tornado is about to touch down on a city. Is your character the type to run screaming or get excited and want a closer look?

For Nadia, it would depend on how far away the tornado is. She wouldn't run screaming, but she would run for cover if it's close enough.

Oddly enough, she actually does have to take cover from a tornado during the story (a magical tornado, of course).

Yes, he would. He's already been a blackmailer, and is nearing the point he has to put his assassin' s training into effect, so theft wouldn't stop him.

What does your MC put more faith in? Friendship or blood?

Our nemeses colleagues at YA and mystery/thrillers each get one. It's our turn. The idea is, one person asks a hypothetical question, any question, and the next answers for their main character. Or any character. Or avoids the question. And then asks another question. Repeat. Questions can be as generic, or as esoteric, as you want.

I'll start:

What would your character do if she found out an asteroid was going to hit the (Earth/planet/giant disc supported by a stack of turtles/etc.) in 12 hours?

What's weird is that this is already in the plan.

It involves whales.

What does your main character think about whales?
