Museum of Words / Museo de la Palabra

The Museum of Words (Museo de la Palabra) is having a flash fiction contest with a 20k USD prize. Everything looks on the up and up, but the entry form is asking for a passport# and home address, which seems kind of odd. Is this legit, or some sort of elaborate identity scam?

I wouldn't give out that info. Talk about opening Pandora's Box. Nope.

That's a $200 per word rate. Seems pretty out there.

My spidey sense is tingling off the charts! Passport info? No Way! That could open a door to your identity data that you might never be able to shut... bad idea...

It appears as if everyone agrees sharing this information is probably not a good idea. Is this a case of the contest organizers not understanding that their request is a bit excessive, or is this a case of malicious intent? Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of this organization?

Anyone foolish enough to ask for this sort of information doesn't need malicious intent.
