Hey everyone,

Kind of jumping the gun, but I am getting warmed up for NaNoWriMo, so I thought I would get started on the OctNoWriMo thread. Who's in?

My goals:
1. Finish short story 'Carpe Aurum, Cowboy'
2. Work on novel that's been plaguing me the last year and a half. Gotten two half-drafts done, want to get something FINISHED. Aiming for at least 30K.

Anyone else?

Eh, I don't think I'm going to meet my September goals. Sigh.

For October:
--Finish WIP #2
--Make progress on WIP #1. Hopefully finish it too, because come November, everything is going to be put on halt except WIP #4.

Goals for October:

1. Survive the 5 or 6 days of wedding stuff at the start of the month.
2. Get some more homework done during those 5 or 6 days.
3. I only have 2 assignments due this month, but I also have a major one due on November 3rd. So complete 3 assignments is the goal.
4. Do all the readings, including literature review readings.
5. Don't go crazy.

Ok, I'm in. Though not with writing. I have

1 - to survive our holidays starting on saturday till about tuesday
2 - try to catch up on unfinished stuff due to being absent for six weeks
3 - edit my last years NaNo-Project. Trying to do this since June, but I seem not to be able to. 30 Chapters - will I be able to see one per day?
4 - prepare for November. I am not a big plotter, but I need to get some ideas about the new project or otherwise I might get stuck again instead of winning like last year.
5 - try to brush up my blogs - very neglected.

CU - once I have finished coping with my zoo.

Don't think I made much of my September writing goals either. :(

However, upwards and onwards for October.

1. Write 30,000 words on my WIP
2. Edit four short stories, which is one per week.
3. Write one blog post per week. (Pick a day and stick to it!)

Looks so simple to see it written down like that.

I'm leaving the house in about 3 hours, and will be heading to the airport to begin a 6-day pseudo-holiday, wherein I plan on getting a bunch of homework done (literature review readings, maybe some edits) in-between family commitments such as brother's wedding.

Going to be an interesting start to the month for me... In the "May you live in interesting times" sense.

My goals for the month.

1) Finish revisions for current novel. Prep it for beta-readers next month.

2) Outline Nanowrimo novel.

3) Get back to reviewing books. Trying for 1 review a week.

I'm giving myself the day off from writing today to REALLY have some vacation. Off to take the ferry to the picturesque village of Ocracoke.

I'm going to ease up on my writing goals for October, as I'll be starting work on my next show and have a couple of one-night gigs to deal with as well. I'm going to give myself a nice round word count goal (which should, I hope get me into the final quarter of the book), aim for another couple of blog posts, and try to read those books. So...

Current WIP word count: 76,942 out of 90,000
Books read: 0 out of 4
Blog posts: 0 out of 2

Happy October, everyone!

This month's goals will likely shift dramatically at some point. At the moment we have:

  • Finish editing the current MS
  • Complete ComiCon costumes (currently somewhere like 3 of 4 done)
  • Write two blog posts looking ahead to ComiCon
  • Find betas, and send MS out to them
  • Hold regional Nanowrimo planning events
  • Plan my Nano novel
  • Make Nanowrimo gift bags/info packets
  • Read books for nano-research

There's more, I'm sure of it, but I can't think of it just yet. I'm already anxious about November - nano, mentoring, evening class, and a FT job. I am sure something is going to fall through my hands.

Did some plotting. And some 'how to' reading. = Procrastination.
Got one blog post done.

Now onto the first words this afternoon.

I need more coffee.

Gosh, is it October already?

Here are my goals for the new month:

  • Finish the first draft of WIP2 chapter book.
  • Edit WIP1 chapter book.
  • Edit WIP2 chapter book.
  • Answer interview questions for the book tour for "Drowning in Fear".
  • Set up the guest posts for the book tour for "Drowning in Fear".
  • Answer interview questions for the book tour for "The Soul Thief".
  • Set up guest posts for the book tour for "The Soul Thief".
  • Edit the first book in the Allegro Academy trilogy (I doubt I'll make it to the end, but I want to get through the first five chapters at least).
  • Finish writing the first draft of Ghostslayer OR Demonic Pact (two WIPs)
  • Set up all reviews on my book review blog for the month October (I have a calendar and schedule, and I still need to read a few)
  • Finish edits for two clients (paranormal romance and middle grade fantasy).
  • Write at least two blog posts a week.
As usually, my goals are crazy. I doubt I'll reach them all.

In My Own Little World...
Been a while since I set proper challenges for a month, so here I am :)

(How is it October already?!) My goals for October are:
- Complete my outline and all my planning, research for the WIP I will be working on next month for NaNoWriMo
- Complete a minimum of 5 scenes that, though aren't obviously for the NaNo project, will use the two central characters in the project just so I can develop a backstory in my head and feel confident about writing these characters come November 1st.

These should be attainable goals...should ;)

Happy October folks!

I've been hiding from making goals of any sort for the past few months, but I think it's time to get back into this :)

So, for October:

  • Finish short story WIP
  • Finish critiques of a friend's novel and short story
  • Start revision on an old novella
  • Plot NaNo project
Hopefully I can get through all that!

Both August and September I fell short of my writing goal and was ashamed to post here. I got my first round of edits back from my editor today, so it looks like another month of little to no writing.

I hope to pick it back up for November.

Joining in again for the first time since I don't know when. Probably last year some time.

My goals:
1. Test out my current editing plan on two drafts I sort of want to edit.
2. Write at least 15k (probably a mix of novel first draft and flash fic).
3. Read 4 books.
4. Come up with some kind of NaNoWriMo plan.

Is it October already? I thought it was March...

It'd be nice to finish this 1st draft, or at least reach 75,000 words. And I really ought to get another five or ten chapters edited on this other book this month.

I like to take October fairly easy, so I'm not knackered before NaNoWriMo even starts!

Tasks in October:
Edit short novella - 22.5k words. Start putting together the submission for it. But in no rush to sub it until November.
Outline NaNoWriMo novel.
4 blog posts, 1 guest blog post and maybe get ahead of myself and get some set up ahead of time for November.
Release day tasks for a story coming out on 12th October.

For all of you who were on tenterhooks from the SeptNoWriMo thread: I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED THE JOHN HUSTON BIOGRAPHY. I still kind of wish I'd given up on it at the halfway point; it just didn't interest me that much given that the subject's behavior was so often repugnant. And not even in an interesting way: more in a "dirty old man" way. Too bad I can't count it as one of my OctNoWriMo reading goals.

My last day of vacay - the beach is beckoning.

My October goals: submit, submit, submit. I sent out a short story just now, and I intend to send out two novels and one short story at the end of this month. This way I can be free to tackle the official NaNoWriMo.

I did no homework yesterday. Oops. I mostly just hung around the hotel, though I did go out for lunch. Today I may try to get something done, but I think I have a family obligation this evening (river cruise).
