I have read this one: Don't over exaggerate. Does that means exaggeration is welcome as long as it's not overwhelming? Where does that person expect the line to be drawn on exaggeration? It's all very subjective.

Oh, and from the news, "She did not survive the drowning". Does anyone?

Yours reminds me of one I've seen or heard when someone's trying to elevate their speech without really knowing the words. "Oh, it's all very subjunctive." Why yes, in the case in which the condition is a wish or does not otherwise exist.

Comment for the 'fun' discussion earlier. Fun is a type of Asian rice noodle. So, it is a noun. And you can say, "I had fun last night. With black bean sauce."

Looking it up, there are other meanings of *drown*.

    «submerge or flood (an area).
"when the ice melted, the valleys were drowned"
synonyms: flood, submerge, immerse, inundate, deluge, swamp, engulf
    "the valleys were drowned"»

    Maybe her home was flooded.

«be overwhelmed by a large amount of something.
"both business and household sectors are drowning in debt"»

Well, that works. Was the story about the mortgage crisis?

I had one of those palm-to-forehead moments online this morning.

A person at a Q&A forum asked if anyone could find the parents' names of one of her ancestors. She gave the name and some dates that could not possibly be correct. (Death before birth? Right!) The name seemed like it ought to have been fairly unique, but there were more than 400 hits at Ancestry.com, so I asked if she had a wife's first name and the maiden name to narrow down which was the right man.

She snapped back the men don't have maiden names and was I an idiot?

Yeah, for trying to help, I guess I was.
