Last I heard, the Queen of England drinks The Glenlivet.
Mmmmm, is that meant to be amusing. We care not what other Queens should drink, unless you have brought a case for my pleasure?
Well, I traveled the world wide to the lovely isle of Scotland and toured the factory (after insuring them I was old enough to be there! Should I take that as a compliment? ) and found The Glenlivet is named after a place in Scotland.
It is a single malt whiskey, made in oak barrels that have been charred inside. The angels get the first sip, which seems only fair to me. (Happy angels must make for happier times, yes?) They make it in both European oak and American Oak barrels. I must say the American Oak sounds more "tasty", imparting sweeter vanilla flavors and a creamier mouth-feel. I will take a creamier mouth-feel over a drier mouth-feel of European any day. (Though I must say I am intrigued by the spicy part mentioned with the European oak.)
All in all, I wouldn't drink it because I prefer brandy or rum to whiskey when I imbibe. Which may be once every year or two. But, I would be more than happy to order a case for the castle if you wished it, Your Majesty.
