Thanks for the new digs!

Everybody remember to subscribe to the thread, if that's how you roll.

I just bought chicken stock. I can make it into a hearty soup in about an hour. Carrots, celery, peas, a little onion, a little garlic, and some noodles sound good?

Maryn, who only made home-made soup twice all winter, the lazy person

It is raining but we have at least been spared winds of death.

O joy. That's one thing I don't miss about work, dragging my sick self in as soon as I can, knowing nobody else is picking up the slack while I'm away and no deadlines will be extended just because I was puking or whatever.

Last night was weird at our house, and indicative of summer to come. I'm watching TV, sort of, while goofing around online, and Mr. Maryn is watching baseball on his iPad while sort of watching TV. We tried it with the TV off, but on was better.

Maryn, who watches too much TV

I find that being on my computer while Mr. Maryn watches sports is about the only way to deal. My heart sank when he announced that one of the things he planned to do once he retired was watch way more sports, and not just baseball, either.

He was just now complaining about the treadmill. Apparently he's having trouble finding stuff to watch on Netflix but won't even try an episode of the one I'm enjoying, because it's "mine." WTF? That makes no sense.

I don't know. I often end up enjoying shows Hubby likes that I wouldn't have tried on my own. Does he mean he'd have to catch up to you?

The idea is that he and I would watch it independently, and if we talked about it, we'd be careful about spoilers. Instead, he's been watching these weird trashy movies with hot women, and they're not good movies, so he's bored. I can appreciate his enjoyment of hot women, but of course lousy movies are boring. Watch something that's good and see if it doesn't have a woman you like, tossed in there for free, yet not about her exploitation.

Flea, nobody told me there would be math! My kids used to laugh at all the math I could no longer do, until I reminded them how many years had passed since my last math class.

Spring may have arrived. We've got sunshine and should hit the 50s later today. Yippee!

Maryn, happy about that

I've taken up The Tudors again. I was watching it on the treadmill in the early winter, but it just didn't move fast enough to prevent my awareness of suffering exertion. Floundering around for something to watch while I sewed, which limits it to a DVD, I saw the box.

I'd lost my place in the series. Without meaning to, I jumped ahead to Ann Bolyn's beheading. (Seriously, can't consider that a spoiler, can we?) Now I'm into it again. Henry's so bad he's fun to hate. And I sewed for an hour, which is all I asked of myself.

Maryn, slow

Edits, round one. Up to page 58. Long, long way to go.

Apparently I rather like disconnected body parts which act independently of their owner, and my publisher does not. His hand pressed my back? Her eyes found the clock? Nope.

Script writers love that stuff. We tend to introduce a character like this:
Two meaty hands grip the steering wheel.

or

Bare feet stride into the boxing ring. Long legs atop....

And my favorite, from the original Romancing The Stone spec:

A size 44 foot kicks in the door.

I blame too many comic books as a kid, BAZAAM! KAPOW! and like that.

And I'm requoting
sometimes what you think you want doesn't turn out to be what you really want.
Just because it's awesome.

Yeah, I have no problem with disconnected body parts, but this publisher is known for hating them with the fire of a thousand suns. Changing every body part to S/He moved his hand down my spine from the original His/Her hand moved down my spine makes it weaker and adds needlessly to the word count, IMO. But hey, what do I know, right?

Today I plan to do a buttload on this ms., maybe even all of it. We shall see.

In other news, my personal email, which I've had since the mid-1990s, has winked out of existence. I can't sign in, and mail sent to it bounces back with a no-such-email-exists message. My guess is that it was hacked--again!--and used to do something so awful Yahoo killed it. I've begun the process of getting it back, but I'm angry and worried I'll lose the contact list if they can't or won't restore it.

Maryn, who doesn't know what more she can do to safeguard it

oh man that sucks. Not only do I not want to lose my contacts, I keep a lot of my email from family and friends and I don't want to lose that either.

Same here. At one time I kept a separate list of people's emails, but after a while I just trusted my contacts list. I don't know if I can find some of those again. I did notify my writing group and nuclear family of the problem and gave them an alternate email, but man, what a pain. Not a peep from Yahoo, either.

Maryn, hoping this means they're working on it
