    Crimson Frost Books

New ebook publisher it looks like, who sent me a full request for my #AdPit. I couldn't find a thread here on AW about them so thought I would start one. I don't think I'll be submitting to them however, because they appear to be an ebook publisher only looking for sort of porny stories up to 60k words in length, and I stopped writing that stuff about a decade ago. (it was a phase).

http://crimsonfrostbooks.com/ - This is their main URL.
    http://midnightfrostbooks.com/ - This is a CFB imprint for non-romance.

It seems like they opened last February. They have about 13 books out and the covers seem about average in quality. There isn't much about the owners. This seems like your usual newbie e-press.

The Crimson Frost staff have years experience, we are all multi-published authors or otherwise industry professionals.
Can't see anything to recommend them. They even spell an author's name two ways: R. B. Micheals on the website and R. B. Michaels on the book cover.
Ghost : Christmas Past. With beta!
Spirit : Christmas Present. 13,038 words.

Oh, wow, I didn't even notice that! Eeek! I wonder how R.B Michaels feel about that.

Yeah, my impression was not very good. They seemed to be spamming everyone just to create a giant slush pile.

Uhg, I fell for this. They provide a line editor and a content editor and a cover artists, but once the editing process is done, it's like pulling teeth to get a response to an email. I've had my novel published through midnight frost for over a year and have only seen one quarterly earnings report and have yet to see a penny in royalties. I know someone else published through them who had to fight for a month to get her name on the website and amazon to be the same as the cover of her book.

I'd like to know who runs the place since there isn't any information that I could find on the website.

The website was registered by Patricia Bates:

Author Patricia Bates currently lives in Canada with her son, husband, two dogs, gecko and a crazy drive to do it all. She enjoys crocheting, reading, writing, and horseback riding. Currently she owns/operates two publishing houses and is opening a new venture in early 2015. For more details about her you can find her online at her website.

I am sure I have heard that name in publishing somewhere else, but I can't place it now. I could be wrong.

My book came out in December with them and I have not seen a royalty check or quarterly earnings report either. My name and book is also not on their site (Midnight Frost Books). I think they are non-responsive to emails because there is no separate email for current clients from the query email. Mary, I'm sending you a pm.

*Update - I sent out an email to the owner's personal email and received my royalties that night.
