Fellow AWer wins award!

Ladies and gentlemen, my friend and AW member K.A. Bedford (Adrian), a native of the land down under, is this year's winner of the Australian Aurealis Award for Best Science Fiction novel of 2005, for his ripping yarn:

I think that beautiful cover deserves an award too. He signed up here once upon a time, but never managed to find the time to join in the fun. I'll email him to let him know I put up this post.

Congratulations, Adrian! w00t!

Congrats to Jenny and Chunky!

I have to throw my little accoimplishment into the mix. Silven.com or Silven publishing, a D20 gaming website, is publishing a short piece I wrote for them as its first game-related fiction pdf. They just posted it on their upcoming product list but there isn't any information added to it yet other then a release date of 4/10. God I love this gig!

Well, to Adrian. But I don't mind basking in the reflected glow.

Okay... I'll brag a little.

I wrote a horror short story about drugs, vampires, punks, and a dentist's chair.

It will be in the July 1, 2006 edition of Dark Recesses.

Well file my fangs! You had me sold at the drugs but a dentist's chair? I'll be looking forward to it. Congrats!

Thanks! I've never gotten the hang of it either . . . I really don't know what I did right. I'm just very grateful that the editor felt that it would fit in.

I just fouind out that I published an article online at Silven! They put out their quarterly e-zine, the Trumpeter on Mondday and a little gaming article I submitted several months ago made it in the issue, along with a one-page preview of my story Axiom they're set to sell as of next month (4/10)! Nailed two birds with one publisher.

Here's an example of a book that's selling despite its reader ratings. Take a look at the number two bestseller on the fantasy page at http://www.fictionwise.com/servlet/mw;jsessionid=NqMA5oj4DGdWbv1jcAsZLKArDWE?a=rewrite&url=/ebooks/FantasyEbooks.htm and observe how many rating responses it possesses compared to many of the other fantasy books. You might also want to look at their overall bestsellers which you can reach through a link at the top of the page.

Am I happy? I'm fairly certain I will be when the next royalty period comes around. :)

Dave, it looks like people are too busy buying your book to rate it. Gee, you've got a serious problem. Congratulations!!!

All right, who went and gave Will Fight Evil For Food a good rating? Don't you know that can stunt sales? ;)

Gah, I've been bad about reading this thread. So...CONGRATS to all sellers! :)

And a huzzah for me: I have here, in my hands, a copy of FARTHING #2, with my short story "The Ties That Bind" published in it. :) Of course, my name is spelled incorrectly on the byline. ((sigh)) Oh well. Still, I'm pretty damn psyched. I love this story, and I'm glad it found a home.

Congratulations on your sale Draper, and that your very first post was about a success! Ok, where's that dancing banana?
