This is one thread among dozens detailing terrible acts by US authorities, some of which PD has participated in, making pretty clear opinions, I think.

I get that the comment about traveling to the UK was insensitive (to say the least). But I think we (in the USA) have been beating up on our authorities enough to make it clear that we're not presuming ourselves superior.
