I just realized I never answered my own question.

I'm writing a dystopian, apocalyptic piece set in a run-down forgotten edge of the world.

Mine's an MG fantasy novel with a magical boarding school where the magic is based on chemical elements (as opposed to the classical elements). I'm calling it Harry Potter with chemistry.

I'm writing one with a magical boarding school, too. In my case, the school isn't actually all that magical. The students have to take a lot of science and math to understand the concepts behind their abilities. They spend only one period a day actually training.

Note: In case anyone's worried about being bored, I show very little time in class.

It's actually the second in my (unsold) MG fantasy series. I wanted to write something new, but I didn't have any ideas far enough along. Besides, I just love these characters and this world.

My novel is about a vampire in the 1920's who makes and sells bootleg whiskey. :)

Last book of a trilogy, are AIs property or people? Also cutting the ties of colonialism, in a FTL culture.

The big issue is tying up all the lose ends from two previous novels, and ending the last book with a big enough bang.

Regards,
Kevin

Turns out it's a World War I sci-fi. It's got tanks. And holograms.

Well, I started with a blank page and absolutely no ideas.

Now, I've got the beginning of an end-of-the world scenario where most everyone in the world is dead with a few leftovers here and there. The government went into bunkers and emerges without energy to use their technology as they attempt to re-establish their governmental controls over all life.

Ha!

Actually, my story and I are fighting because I hate that idea.

Mine's an MG paranormal contemporary retelling of Grimm's Seven Swans.

A sparrow drops a family photo on a girl's windowsill. The girl figures out that the family in the photo is her own. There's just one problem: there are three little boys in the photo, and she's an only child.

Mine is sort of like... A reverse Saving Private Ryan in space with shades of Gattaca meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? Or something.
